AFCAT 2020 Section Wise Analysis of Shift 1 Exam
English
The section of English exhibited notable changes. There are two passages for English comprehension with two questions asked from each passage. A lot of marks have been distributed among questions based on synonyms, antonyms, idioms and errors. There are questions based on the concept of tense and its application in the English language. Overall the level of difficulty of the English question paper is between moderate to difficult.
Reasoning & Aptitude
The section on reasoning is expectedly moderate in difficulty. The question pattern is almost unchanged. Maximum emphasis has been laid upon analogy, dot figures, the odd one out type questions, Venn diagrams and picture perception. Questions have been framed from the knowledge of the organisation structure of Indian Defense wings. Specifically, questions have been framed on the organization of ranks in the Indian Army.
Mathematics
Candidates who covered an ample number of previous year question papers and model question papers has the advantage of the unchanged question structure in the first shift. Familiar topics from the indicative syllabus are included in the question paper. Questions from typical topics such as profit & loss, time & work, boat & stream, average, decimal, fractions and simplification have remained common from previous year question papers. Overall, the question paper on Mathematics is based on the indicative syllabus and higher marks are expected from those who took the first shift examination.
General Awareness
General Awareness questions are fundamentally structured as one-liners. Some unique questions that are based on current events and general knowledge have been included. A similar pattern of the questions from previous years in the general awareness section of the AFCAT 2020 exam has been followed. However, some new questions related to very recent events are included as well. Questions are also covered from aviation-related international institutions and sports events. Indian polity and geography is expectedly common.
