The ARS Result 2018 will be released by Agriculture Scientist Recruitment Board Service (ASRB) to recruit Scientist in Agriculture Research Service (ARS) of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). The ARS Result 2018 will be released after the successful completion of the examinations. First, ASRB will release the result of those candidates who will qualify the ARS 2018 (Preliminary) Examination. Then after that Main examination will be held and its result will be declared. ARS Result 2018

The result will be declared online at the official website to recruit 195 posts for Scientist in Agriculture Research Service (ARS) of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). Candidates who are going to appear in the examination will only be able to check their result.

Candidates who will qualify the Mains exam will be called for Viva-Voice and then the final selection will be done.

Result: ARS Result 2018 will be declared at www.asrb.org.in.

Minimum Qualifying Marks

The candidates who obtain following minimum qualifying marks in the Preliminary Examination will be allowed to appear in the ARS (Mains) Examination in the ratio of 1:15 (category-wise) for each post. However, the Board reserves the right to fix/alter the qualifying marks and ratio in any or all Disciplines at its discretion.

The candidates who obtain such minimum qualifying marks in the Mains Examination as may be fixed by the Board in its discretion shall be called for viva-voce in the ratio of 1:5 (category-wise) for each post. However, the Board reserves the right to alter this ratio at its discretion.

Minimum marks required for qualifying ARS-2018 (Preliminary) Examination:

ARS-2018 – Viva-voce

The candidates will be interviewed by a Board of competent and unbiased experts in the respective disciplines, who will have before them a record of his/her career. The object of the viva-voce is to assess his/her suitability for the Service for which he/she has competed. The viva-voce is intended to supplement the written examination for testing the general and specialized knowledge and abilities of the candidate. The candidate will be expected to have taken an intelligent interest not only in his/her own state or country, but also in modern current of thought and in new discoveries, which should rouse the curiosity of well-educated youth.

The technique of the viva-voce is not that of strict cross-examination, but of a natural, though directed and purposive conversation intended to reveal the candidate’s mental qualities and his/her grasp of problems. The Board will pay special attention to assessing the intellectual curiosity, critical powers of assimilation, balance of judgment and alertness of mind, the ability for social cohesion, integrity of character, initiative and capacity for leadership and scientific research.

ARS 2018 Selection Procedure

The selection of the candidates will only be done on the basis of the score secured in the examination.

  • First, the candidates will have to qualify the preliminary exam.
  • The qualifiers will then be allowed to take ARS Main 2018 exam.
  • The qualifiers of Mains will be called for Viva-Voice and then the final selection will be done.

Rules for Tie-Breaker

Wherever two or more candidates have secured equal aggregate marks (marks in written ARS-2018 – Mains Examination + Viva-voce) the merit of the candidates shall be determined by applying the following Tie-Breaker Rules:

  • Candidate securing more marks in the written ARS-2018 (Mains) Examination will be ranked higher.
  • In case where the marks mentioned at (a) above are equal, the candidate senior in age will be ranked higher.

Re-Evaluation of Answer Key

There is no provision of re-evaluation of the answer script and therefore, no request for re-evaluation of the answer script will be entertained. The Board will not enter into any correspondence in this regard.

Probation Period

Candidates selected for appointment to the Service will be appointed as Scientists in the Service on probation for a period of two years which may be extended, if necessary. Candidates selected on the basis of the competitive examination shall be required to undergo an intensive course of study and training for a specified period. On successful completion of the prescribed training, a candidate will be posted anywhere in India according to the Research priorities of the Council. He will be liable to serve at the initial place of posting at least for a period of five years before seeking transfer on what so ever ground from that place / station. Every trainee shall be required to execute a bond to serve the Council (ICAR) for a minimum period of 4 years from the date of appointment, including the period of training. Failure to serve the ICAR for the stipulated period will render the candidate liable to refund to the Council a sum of ₹ 1,25,000/- (Rupees one lakh twenty five thousand only).
