How to prepare for RRB Group D CBT 2018

The RRB Group D recruitment process will take place on the basis of a combined merit consist of the three stages, firstly online mode Computer Based Test (CBT), secondly Physical Efficiency Test (PET), and the last stage is Document Verification. Generally, we have seen students fear that they would not be selected in the PET round. Firstly, candidates must know that for taking the PET, they must clear the first stage CBT. They should be prepared enough to crack the online CBT round of RRB Group D, before preparing for the other further stages.

In order to qualify the CBT round of the RRB Group D, the candidates must know each and every detail regarding the CBT round and its way of preparation. Firstly, they must acquaint themselves with the exam pattern and the syllabus stated by the Railway Board. Thereafter, they should start their preparation for the same. RRB Group D Exam Pattern

In order to prepare yourself for the RRB Group D examination, one must know the exam pattern designed for the RRB Group D examination.

Topics to be covered Number of questions
Mathematics  100 (Objective type questions)
General Awareness
General Science
Logical and Analytical Reasoning
  • The duration will be of 90 minutes.
  • Maximum marks will be 100.
  • Questions will be objective type (MCQ)
  • The mode of question paper will follow English, Hindi or Regional language.
  • Negative marking: For every wrong answer, 0.33 marks will be deducted.

Candidates need to obtain minimum cut off to crack the first stage CBT of RRB Group D, i.e. General-40%, OBC-30%, SC-30%, ST-30%.

RRB Group D Syllabus

The syllabus for RRB Group D is a very helpful source in order, to begin with, the preparation for the exam. The syllabus contains all the important topics that are to be covered from the point of view of examination. There are 4 major subjects, Mathematics, General awareness, General science and Logical Reasoning.

Mathematics: Number system, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time and Work, Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, Square root, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern.

General Awareness: Current affairs of Science and technology, Economics, News, Sports, Culture, Politics, and anything which is in headlines.

General Science: This section is comprised of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology till 10th standard.

Logical and Analytical Reasoning:Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical operations, Blood Relations, Syllogism, Jumbling of words, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and Decision making, Similarities and Differences, Analytical Reasoning, Classification, Directions, Time Distance and Speed, Arguments and Assumptions.

RRB Group D Preparation Tips

After getting aware of exam pattern, syllabus and books to prepare. The candidates must know some key points in order to prepare for the RRB Group D exam.

  • Understand and clear the basics of every topic.
  • Solve question papers of previous years and online mock test.
  • Note down all the shortcuts or anything you learn from different books.
  • After practicing the basics, try to solve difficult questions to get distinct knowledge.
  • Continuously practice every type of question even if it is easy or moderate or hard.
  • Maintain patience even if you are getting incorrect answers in the beginning.
  • Keep solving and practicing, it will improve your silly mistakes.
  • Try to manage your time according to each section.
  • Take your own test and learn from your mistakes.

Tips for Beginners

  • Firstly, try to solve the Reasoning section, as it will charge your mind and develop analytical thinking in you.
  • In the case of mathematics, start with the interesting and easy topics.
  • Practice calculation related and analytical questions every day to warm up your mind.
  • While solving paper, if you find any question very difficult, do not stick to it, rather move to the next question.
  • Solve Puzzles, Riddles, play mind-boggling games. It will increase your concentration, thinking speed, and your grasping power. It helps you with fast decision making.
  • Read a newspaper or watch the news on a daily basis. It will improve your General Knowledge and Vocabulary.
  • Reading will gradually help you in developing a good command over the language.
  • Do your own Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, and Threat (SWOT) analysis. It will help you know where your preparation standard lies and how much more preparation you need to do.
  • Lastly, when you are satisfied with your preparation and reward yourself for every correct solution. Celebrate and enjoy that moment. Don’t let your tensions or worries ruin your confidence and determination.
