Preparation Tips

Not much time is left for IBPS clerk exam commencement. Candidates must have a positive attitude before appearing for high-level competition. Here we have suggested some preparation tips that can be referred to prepare for IBPS Clerk exam.

Time and Answering Speed: In the preliminary exam, the candidates get only 20 minutes to solve each section. There will be 30 to 35 questions in each section and not have even one full minute to solve a question. So, work on the speed to solve each question.

Work on Accuracy: Candidates need to work on their accuracy for answering the answer correctly. There is a cut-throat competition in the exam, hence aspirants must avoid making typical and silly mistakes. Every correct answer in the question paper makes the path to the vacancies.

Keep Study Note: Candidates must always make notes for revising in the crucial hours. The study notes should be prepared after completing every topic. This will ease up your revising process.

Prepare for competition: The no. of candidates appearing for this exam is more than 10 times the no. of vacancies of the post. Also, there is a negative marking of 25% per question. Hence, you need to prepare strategically for the exam.

Work on Basics: Aspirants must first clear their basics and then start with the objective questions. Directly solving the question leads to chaos. Start with NCERT and then proceed to other reference books afterward.

Appear for Mock Tests: The candidates can appear for some mock tests to know their level of preparation and to get an idea of how to attempt the paper in the exam centre. The mock test makes you read for appearing in the exam.

Try Solving Previous Year papers: Candidates can refer to previous year papers to get an idea of the difficulty level of the exam paper. The previous year papers help you in planning strategies to solve the question paper.

Read Newspaper Daily: In both the exams, there is a section on current affairs. Hence, it is advised to read the newspaper and be updated with the current affairs for at least 4 months. Reading newspapers will also help you with reading habits and solving reading comprehension.

Practice make a man perfect: Lastly, practice is all that help in the exam. Candidates must practice a lot of questions from various reference books and previous question paper books.

Wise Words by Previous Year Qualifier –

Following are some of the tips from previously qualified candidates:
– My strategy was to score good marks in 3 sections to compensate in rest 1 section in the main section. I used to study 2-3 hours in the early morning.
– I started everything from the basics and cleared all my doubts first. This gave me confidence to solve many of the sections.
– You don’t have to study 10-14 hours daily but if you do a focused study of 4-5 hours daily then I don’t think that you will not get success. Success will come by its own.
– I took over 50 tests in a test series which gradually helped me figure out where I am lacking and where I should and I can improve my speed.
– In the quantitative ability section, I tried my best in maintaining my speed. I never wasted my time of more than 30 seconds in a question.
