UPSC announced the postponement of the National Defence Academy (NDA) and Naval Academy (NA) (I), 2020 examination earlier today. Among several others, it comes as the latest addition to various government examinations recently deferred in India.
NDA and NA (I), 2020 exam date was earlier announced to be held on April 19, 2020. But the Union Public Service Commission has now postponed the exam due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic that has made its way into India. The Commission has remained silent on the expected new date of the exam. However, we are expecting announcement of the rescheduled dates as soon as Covid-19 situations normalize.
UPSC conducts the NDA and NA examination to qualify eligible candidates for defense academy admissions. However, the news of the postponement surely puts a question mark on whether the defense academy sessions will eventually commence in January 2020 for NDA and NA (I) 2020 qualifiers.
NDA and NA (I) 2020 examination
UPSC conducts the NDA and NA competitive examination twice a year. The SSB recommends selected candidates for admission into the Army, Navy and Air Force wings of the NDA and the Indian Naval Academy (NA). It goes without saying that the NDA & NA exam is one of the most prestigious competitive exams in India. Hence, thousands of aspirants look forward to this examination to fulfill their dreams of serving in the Indian defense services.
More than 600,000 senior secondary qualified applicants registered for the examination in its previous renditions. UPSC conducts the examination in centers around the country. Subsequently, the Services Selection Board (SSB) recommends qualifiers for admission into defense academies through a final interview. In this latest rendition of the NDA & NA (I) 2020 exam, successful candidates will have the opportunity to get admission into the 145th Course of the NDAs and the 107th Course of the NA. These courses are tentatively starting from January 02, 2020.
