Examination Pattern for Preliminary Examination
- In the preliminary examination, objective questions are asked.
- Candidates have to mark their answers on an OMR sheet in prelims. The examination is conducted through Computer-based recruitment test.
- Questions consist of General awareness questions only.
- 100 marks are allotted to preliminary examination.
- Examination for the preliminary examination is conducted for 1 hour and 30 minutes
- There is negative marking in OSSC Junior Assistant preliminary examination of 0.25 marks.
- The preliminary examination for OSSC Junior Assistant is qualifying in nature.
Examination Pattern for Main Examination
- Main examination consists of 3 papers –
- Paper 1 – Language test (English and Odia) in descriptive type
- Paper 2 – General knowledge (objective)
- Paper 3 – Maths and basic computer skills (objective type).
- Each paper of the main examination is conducted for a different duration. Paper 1 is conducted for 02 hours. Paper 2 is conducted for 01 hours. Paper 3 is conducted for 03 hours.
- Main examination is conducted for a total of 400 marks.
- There is negative marking in Paper 2 of 0.25 marks. Paper 3 has a negative marking of 0.50 marks.

About OSSC Junior Assistant 2020
Odisha State Service commission (OSSC) conducts the examination for the post of Junior Assistant. Through this post, candidates get selected for the post of Junior Assistant. Initially, the appointment of the shortlisted candidates is done on a contractual basis. The post of Junior Assistant of OSSC is of HOD cadre whereas Junior Assistant of GA and PG is not at par with HOD cadre. Candidates have to go through preliminary examination, main examination, computer skill test, and certificate verification. Candidates are allotted with the post based on position in the merit list.
