The online application form can be filled up as per the schedule on the official website of Punjab Police Constable Recruitment 2016-17. Candidates are advised to apply online and well-in-advance without waiting for the last date of submission of online Common Application Form (CAF).

The candidates are advised to submit ONLY SINGLE ONLINE APPLICATION for the post of Constable. However, if somehow, the candidate manages to submit multiple online applications, only his first application shall be entertained and fee paid against one Application shall not be adjusted against any other Application.

Punjab Police Constable Recruitment Eligibility Criteria

Nationality: The applicant should be a citizen of India.

Age Limit: The minimum age as on 1 Jan 2016 should be 18 years (no relaxation) and maximum age should be 28 years (5 year relaxation to SC / ST / OBC. Ex-Servicemen shall be given relaxation in the upper age limit by 3 years, plus the number of years of service, rendered in the Indian Defence Forces.

Educational Qualifications for District Police & Armed Police Cadre Recruitment

The candidate must have passed 10+2. In matriculation examination Punjabi should be one of the compulsory or elective subjects. In case of Ex-Servicemen, the minimum educational qualifications shall be Matriculation.

Educational Qualifications for IT & Telecommunication Wing Recruitment

Constable (Operator): Any of the following

  • 10+2 (with Physics as one of regular subjects) and six months basic computer course / B.Sc (IT) / BCA
  • Matriculation and Diploma in Computer Engineering / Diploma in Electronics & Communication Engineering (Duration 3 years).
  • Graduation in the field of Electronics / Electronics and Communication.

Constable (Hardware): Any of the following

  • Matriculation and one year certificate course in Computer Hardware and Network
    Maintenance with one year practical experience .
  • Matriculation and Certificate Course in Information Technology & Electronics System Maintenance (Duration 2 years) or Certificate Course in Information & Communication Technology System Maintenance (Duration 2 years).Matriculation and Diploma in Computer Engineering / Diploma in Electronics &
    Communication Engineering (Duration 3 years).
  • Graduation in field of Computer Engineering.

Constable (Software): Any of the following

  • Matriculation and one year certificate course in Computer Operator and Programming Assistant (COPA) with one year practical experience.

Punjab Police Constable Selection Process

Punjab Police Constable Recruitment 2016-17 Selection Process is different for District Police & Armed Police Cadre Recruitment, Information Technology & Telecommunication Wing Constable Recruitment and Constable (Driver). Details of all are given below.

For District Police & Armed Police Cadre Recruitment

#1 Physical Measurement Test (PMT)

Only those candidates who are found to fulfill the requisite age and educational qualifications shall be screened for height. And all candidates who have been found to be of requisite height (male- 5’ 7” & female- 5’ 3”) will stand qualified to appear in the Physical Screening Test (PST).

The candidate shall be awarded marks as per the following criteria.

#2 Physical Screening Test (PST)

The candidates shall be required to appear in the Physical Screening Test, which shall be of a qualifying nature and shall comprise of the following events:

A candidate must qualify in all the above events. Failure to qualify in any one of the above events of Physical Screening Test shall disqualify the candidate from the recruitment process.

Marks for Performance in 10+2 Board Exam (Applicable to all male and female candidates except Ex-Servicemen)

#3 Interview-cum-Personality Test

From among the candidates who qualify the Physical Measurements and the Physical Screening Test, each Range / Zonal / Commissionerate Recruitment Board will draw up a Preliminary Merit List, separately for the District Police Cadre and Armed Police Cadre, on the basis of the Marks obtained by the candidates in the Height measurement and the Educational qualifications (30 Marks).

Central Recruitment Board will combine all the Preliminary Merit Lists submitted and draw up three separate Statewide Preliminary Merit Lists, one each for

  • District Police Cadre – Male,
  • District Police Cadre – Female, and
  • Armed Police Cadre – Male

On the basis of merit position in the Statewide Preliminary Merit Lists so prepared, the Central Recruitment Board shall select candidates for Interview-cum Personality Test. The Interview-cum-Personality Test shall be of 04 marks.

The candidates appearing in the Interview-cum-Personality Test shall be required to bring all their relevant certificates and supporting documents, in original, alongwith at least one self-attested photocopy of each.

Final Merit List which shall be prepared by adding the marks obtained in the Height measurement (15 marks), Educational qualifications (15 marks) & Interview-cum-Personality Test (4 marks).

For IT & Telecom Wing Recruitment

#1 PET

All the candidates whose applications are found satisfactory after scrutiny and who qualify the preliminary medical test / drug test / dope test (if any) will be eligible to participate in the physical efficiency test. A candidate must qualify in all events. Failure to qualify in any one of the events of PET will render the candidate as disqualified.

#2 PMT

Qualified candidates from Phase-I will be screened for height measurement as
per criteria.

#3 Written Test (Computer-based / OMR sheet based)

Minimum qualifying marks in written examination will be 50 for General Category and 40 for the candidates of Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes and Backward classes. Only the candidates securing minimum qualifying marks in respective categories will be eligible for consideration for final selection.

For Constable (Driver)

Regional Recruitment Boards shall conduct the recruitments for male candidates at such Recruitment Centres as specified by the Chairman Central Recruitment Board. The Substance Abuse (Drug Addiction) Test (SAT), Physical Screening Test (PST) and Physical Measurement Test (PMT) shall be conducted at such centres as may be decided. The Substance Abuse (Drug Addiction) Test (SAT), the Physical Screening Test (PST) and the Physical Measurement Test (PMT) of a candidate shall be conducted on a single day, and the entire process shall be got video-graphed. After the qualifying the above said test the Board will conduct written test which is of 50 marks. From the candidates who qualify the written examination, double the number of vacancies advertised will be called for Driving proficiency test according to the merit of written examination. The same shall be conducted at such number of centres as may be decided by the Chairman of the Central Recruitment Board.

# 1 Substance Abuse (Drug Addiction) Test

Every candidate shall undergo a Substance Abuse (Drug addiction) Test at the Range/Zonal/District/Commissioneratc Recruitment centre before the conduct of the Physical Screening Test (PST) and Physical Measurement Test (PMT). The SAT shall be conducted under the supervision of Medical officials of the Punjab Government/recognized Medical University /Institute. Only the candidates who clear the Substance Abuse Test shaJI be entitled to appear in the PST/ PMT, Written Test and Driving proficiency Test.

# 1 Physical Screening Test (PST)

The candidates who clear the SAT shall be required to appear in the Physical Screening Test, on the Regional Recruitment Centres as may be decided by Central Recruitment Board, which shall be of a qualifying nature and shall comprise of the following events:

#3 Physical Measurement Test (PMT)

Only those candidates who have qualified Physical Screening Test (PST) shall be screened for height and all candidates who have been found to be of requisite height (male- 5′ 7″) will stand qualified to appear in the Written Test.

Note:- A candidate must qualify in all the above events. Failure to qualify in any one of the above events of Physical Screening Test shall disqualify the candidate from the recruitment process.

#4 Written Examination Test (WET)

The candidates who qualify the physical trial (SAT, PST and PMT) will be required to appear in a Written Examination Test (WET) to be held at such number of Centres as the Central Recruitment Board may decide. The WET shall be of 50 Marks and will consist of the Objective Type Questions. The candidate will be required to mark his answers on an OMR Sheet that will be provided. The WET shall broadly cover the questions on Driving Aptitude, the knowledge about the Motor Machinery, Road and Traffic Signs, General Awareness etc. and will also test the candidate’s Road sense. There will be no negative marking.

It is mandatory to gel minimum of 45% marks to qualify this examination by the candidates belonging to SC/ST /BC categories, whereas other candidates have to get minimum of 50% pass marks.

#5 Driving Proficiency Test (DPT)

The candidates who have qualified in the Physical Trials and passed written test shall be required to appear in a Driving Proficiency Test (DPT) which will be involving the hands on experience of the candidate on a vehicle. DPT shall be of qualifying nature and the candidates will have to qualify in the DPT to be considered for preparation of Provisional Merit List.

For Constables Sportspersons (Male & Female)

The Selection Process shall consist of various stages as below:

  • Scrutiny of application forms.
  • Physical Trials consisting of Substance Abuse (Drug Addiction) Test and Physical Measurement Test (PMT).
  • Sports Trials (Concerned discipline) – 25 Marks
  • Counseling & Scrutiny of sports achievements – 25 Marks
