RRB ALP 2018 Selection Process – Details for stage-1,2,3

The Railway Recruitment Board is organizing the Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) and Technicians examination for 2018. In this article, we will discuss the RRB ALP 2018 Selection Process. The final selection of the candidate will be on the basis of Merit prepared after the successful conduction of exam. RRB ALP 2018 Selection Process will be conducted into four stages. The mode of conducting all the stages of the exam will be Computer Based. The application for the RRB ALP and Technician exam should be submitted only once. At the time of RRB ALP 2018 Selection Process, the multiple applications submitted by candidates will lead to disqualification of their candidature.

Firstly, candidates will be chosen as per the eligibility criteria specified by the Railway Board for the exam then the Result and final RRB ALP 2018 Selection Process will decide the recruitment of the candidate. The candidates can get the complete information regarding vacancy details, stages of exams, exam pattern, and RRB ALP 2018 Selection Process through this article.

The RRB ALP 2018 Selection Process will be decided on the basis of the four stages as elaborated below.

 

RRB ALP 2018 Selection Process

RRB ALP 2018 First stage CBT

It is an online computer-based test that is taken as a first stage for appearing in RRB ALP 2018. This exam is compulsory for both Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) and Technician. After clearing this initial stage, the candidates can appear for the further stages.

RRB ALP 2018 Exam Pattern (First Stage)

  • Duration of this exam will be 60 minutes.
  • The total number of questions will be 75.
  • Language mode of question paper will be English or Hindi or Regional language.
  • There will be negative marking, 1/3rd of the total marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.

The qualifying marks for the First stage CBT are as follows:

  • General candidates: 40%
  • OBC candidates: 30%
  • SC candidates: 30%
  • ST candidates 25%

RRB ALP 2018 Syllabus (First Stage)

The RRB has specified a section-wise syllabus covering all the topics from the perspective of RRB ALP 2018 examination.

Mathematics: Number system, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time and Work; Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, Square root, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern etc.

Logical and Analytical Reasoning: Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and Decision making, Similarities and Differences, Analytical Reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement – Arguments and Assumptions etc.

General Science: Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences of 10 standard level.

General Awareness: Current affairs in Science & Technology, Sports, Culture, Personalities, Economics, Politics and any other subjects of importance.

RRB ALP 2018 Second Stage (CBT)

The second stage is also an online computer-based test. This exam is also compulsory for both Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) and Technician to appear. The candidates who have cracked the First stage CBT, only they will be able to take the Second Stage CBT. It comprised of two parts, i.e. Part A and Part B. Both the phases are important, on the basis of these two parts the Result of Second Stage CBT will declare.

RRB ALP 2018 Exam Pattern (Second stage)

As it consists of two parts, Part A and Part B follow different exam pattern.

  • Duration for Part A is 90 minutes and for Part B is 60 minutes.
  • The language of question paper will be English or Hindi or regional language.
  • The total number of questions in Part A is 100 and in Part B it is 75.
  • There will be negative marking, 1/3rd of the total marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.

Cut Off

The qualifying marks for the Second stage CBT (Part A) is as follows

  • General candidates: 40%
  • OBC candidates: 30%
  • SC candidates: 30%
  • ST candidates 25%

In case of qualifying marks for the Second Stage (Part B) is 35% and it is applicable for all candidates.

Mathematics

Number system, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time and Work; Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, Square Root, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern etc.

General Intelligence and Reasoning

Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and decision making, Similarities, and differences, Analytical reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement – Arguments and Assumptions etc.

Basic Science and Engineering

The broad topics that are covered under this shall be Engineering Drawing (Projections, Views, Drawing Instruments, Lines, Geometric figures, Symbolic Representation), Units, Measurements, Mass Weight and Density, Work Power and Energy, Speed and Velocity, Heat and Temperature, Basic Electricity, Levers and Simple Machines, Occupational Safety and Health, Environment Education, IT Literacy etc.

General Awareness on Current Affairs

In Science & Technology, Sports, Culture, Personalities, Economics, Politics and any other subjects of importance.

For Part B There is no specified general syllabus, the syllabus for Part B will be Trade syllabus and it will be designed as per the DGET.

RRB ALP 2018 Third Stage (CBAT)

The computer-based aptitude test is only applicable for the ALP Aspirants. The candidates who will be qualifying in the second stage (Part A and B) only they will be able to take the computer-based aptitude test. The weightage in Part A will 70% and from Part B, it will be 30%. The candidates must appear in every stage Computer Based Aptitude Test before this stage to take the CBAT.

  • There will be no negative marking applicable for this test.
  • Candidate must score 42% to qualify this stage.

RRB ALP 2018 Syllabus for Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)

RRB ALP 2018 Document Verification

After successfully clearing all the three stages mentioned above, candidates will be called for the document verification. In case two candidates securing the same marks, their selection will be done on the basis of age criteria and the older candidate will get the preference. The Candidates shortlisted for document verification are required to produce all original documents along with the two sets of their self-attested photocopies. No additional time will be given to the candidates who fail to produce their original documents at the time of document verification.

  • Aadhar Card
  • Passport size photographs
  • Date of Birth proof
  • Matriculation certificate
  • Higher Secondary certificate
  • Caste certificates (For reserved category candidates)
  • Medical certificate for PWD candidates.
  • Self-attested xerox copy of the above-mentioned documents.

On the basis of three stages explained above, the final selection will take place for the recruitment of RRB ALP 2018 posts.

RRB ALP 2018 Vacancy Details

The Railway Board organized RRB ALP 2018 to fill in the 26,502 vacant posts of ALP and Technicians in all over India for different categories. Out of these 26,502, ALP vacancies are 17,673 and vacancies for Technician are 8,829.

RRB ALP 2018 Pay scale: The pay scale at initial for ALP and Technicians will be Rs. 19,900/- along with that candidates will get DA, TA, and HRA.

    I am qualified for stage 3 but I don’t want to become ALP but technician. If I don’t sit for stage 3, will I still be able to become Technician? And CBT 2 70% and CBT 3 30% ?

    Is there any chance to call for DV and ME for the candidates who are next immediate 50% stand by list for ALP posts from RRBs (because they are having only difference -0.03475 and 0.05871)
