SSC CGL Analysis Tier I – 06 March
The first shift of the SSC CGL 2020 (Tier I) exam is over for the day now. We have scrutinised the question paper here and provided a detailed analysis. Section wise analysis of the paper according to three main parameters are provided. We have included the number of questions asked, the level of difficulty and the pattern of the question paper. Exam analysis of Quantitative Aptitude section
Number of questions
- There were 25 questions in the Quantitative Aptitude section
Level of difficulty
- The level of diffuclty of this section is higher than the previous shifts of the Tier I examination being held this year.
- The level of difficulty was moderate in the second shift. Besides calculative questions, some very simple questions were included.
Question pattern
- Majority of questions in this section were calculative in nature.
- Advanced mathematics section consisted of 3 to 4 questions based on calculative Trigonometry.
- Triangle questions were changed in terms of having to find the sides instead of the angles in the second shift.
- Simple interest based numericals were asked in the second shift.
- In the second shift, simple questions related to trigonometric tables were asked.
- Time and work questions were asked in the second shift exam.
- Simple multiplication questions were also asked in second shift exam.
- Questions related to divisibility theories were included in the second shift quantitative aptitude section.
Exam analysis of General Intelligence & Reasoning section
Number of questions
- There were 25 questions in the GI & Reasoning section
Level of difficulty
- The level of difficulty was between easy to moderate for this section for shift 1 & 2.
Question pattern
- Science and number related analogy questions are included
- Number series based questions were common similar to previous shifts.
- Mostly, series questions are being asked from the difference between numbers.
- Number analogy questions were based on square values.
- Letter related coding-decoding questions were common similar to previous shifts.
- In the second shift, odd one out type questions were included.
- Number series questions were asked in the logical reasoning part.
- Set & Venn diagram based questions were also included in the second shift.
Exam analysis of General Awareness section
Number of questions
- There were 25 questions in the General Awareness section
Level of difficulty
- The level of difficulty of this section was moderate to high.
- In the second shift, the level of the question was moderate.
Question pattern
- More questions were included from the science topics including physics, chemistry and biology in first and second shifts.
- Sports related questions were included in current affairs. The focus is mainly on cricket in both shifts.
- History and geography-related questions were also asked in the first shift.
- State CM and other important personnel of Indian states have been asked.
- The second shift exam consisted of questions from the Indian Constitution.
- Historical battles were included from history topics. Questions about Indian geography were included.
- Questions related to cricket awards were included in the second shift.
- Questions about international environmental standards related to ISO was asked.
Exam analysis of English Language section
Number of questions
- There were 25 questions in the English section
Level of difficulty
- The level of difficulty of the English section has remained easy to moderate.
- The level of difficulty has been increased as compared to previous shifts.
- The level of difficulty of the English section was moderate in the second shift.
Question pattern
- Cloze test was based on Atlas and Hercules companies.
- One word questions were asked in the first shift.
- Synonyms and antonyms were common and of the basic level such as “prefer” and “persist”.
- Idioms were included in the question paper which were not of very difficult level.
- Simple synonyms/ antonyms with options and one words were asked in second shift.
- Spelling questions were asked and the cloze test was based on Taj Mahal in the second shift.
- Cloze test was based on prepositions in the second shift.
