Exam for the WB Police Constable will be Objective based. It will be carried out in five-stage
Preliminary Written Test
The exam is based on Multiple Choice Question which carries 100 question. Time allotted for the exam is 1 Hour. Applicant has to qualify the exam for another round of examination. Subjects for the preliminary exam is General Awareness and General Knowledge (50 Marks), Elementary Mathematics (Madhyamik standard) (30 Marks), Reasoning (20). Negative marking is for the wrong answer. 1/4 the of marks will be deducted for the wrong answer.
Physical Measurement Test (PMT)
Height and Weight of the candidates will be checked using the electronic machine, who has qualified the preliminary exam.

Physical Efficiency Test
An applicant qualified for physical measurement test will be allowed to take part in PET, which consists of 1600 meters run in 6 min 30 sec. Timing will be recorded with help of Radio Frequency Identification Device.
Final Written Examination
The final written exam will be conducted for those candidates who have qualified in PMT and PET. The exam will be multiple choice. Negative marking for the wrong answer. 1/4th of the marks will be deducted for the wrong answer. The exam will be conducted of 85 Marks. Following are the subjects name with marks
