West Bengal Public Service Commission (WBPSC) has successfully conducted the WBCS 2020 preliminary examination on Sunday, February 09, 2020. Candidates who qualify the prelims held today will be shortlisted for the main examination. The story does not end there, as, after the Mains, shortlisted candidates will go for Personality Tests. Successful candidates of the WBCS 2020 exam, will be recruited in West Bengal Civil Service (Executive), including other suitable posts and services.

- The paper was not too easy but the level of competition has increased in the last one year.

WBCS 2020 Exam Analysis
If we go by what the experts and candidates say, then the paper was neither very easy, nor too difficult. It was as expected. The number of candidates taking the WBCS 2020 preliminary test were higher. There are chances of tighter screening by the Commission. Expectations regarding the overall difficulty level of the question paper were higher. In fact, the overall difficulty level this year was moderate to high compared to the previous two years.
English section was relatively easy including familar questions from previous years. Number of questions in the geography section were far more than expected. However, familar questions were found in geography as well as history sections. Well prepared students are expected to score higher marks in these sections. Indian polity questions were simple to moderate in difficulty level.
General Intelligence and General Knowledge questions were common and simple. According to experts, some questions had the wrong options. General Intelligence questions also included some typical complex questions. Well prepared candidates can be expected to have answered these correctly.
The section on mathematics was moderate to high in difficulty level. Candidates are expected to score moderate marks in this section. Well prepared candidates might score good marks in this section due to a fair number of common questions. Candidates who solved more mock tests can be expected to score higher marks due to familiarity of questions.
As the preliminary exam is now over, candidates should start preparing for the main examination, which is scheduled to be held in this year only. Candidates who will successfully clear the main examination of WBCS 2020 after preliminary exam, will be called for a personal interview.
