History of JKPSC
The history of Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) starts with Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services Regulation. The concept of conducting state-wise competitive and departmental examinations can be tracked between 1954-1957. During the reign of Dogra Maharaja Hari Singh, introduction to civil service examination for the first time in 1941. Before this, Maharaja used to nominate candidates for civil services training. These candidates after the completion of training would join the state government. the first Kashmiri to top the civil service examination was Agha Nasir Ali. He was the first Deputy Commissioner of Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir.
The formation of JKPSC is explained by the constitution of the Indian state in Part XXI with article 370 providing it an autonomous state. Section 128 of the constitution of Jammu and Kashmir explains the formation of JK Public Service Commission which indicates the commission was set up on 2 September 1957.

Duties and functions of JKPSC
JKPSC functions and fulfill duties which are follows:
- conducts statewide civil services examination and recruitment process.
- Submits a report based on the work done by the commission to the state governor.
- Ensures that the procedure of transfer, recruitment, promotion, and dismissals of civil services posts constitutionally prescribed principles.
- Analyze and investigate the application of personnel and public administration practices and report to the relevant legislature and executive authority of Jammu and Kashmir.
- Advises on matters related to section 133 of the constitution of Indian states.

JKPSC Advertisement – JKPSC releases the notifications/advertisements before the commencement of any process.
