History of KPSC
Before 1921, there was no defined agency in the state of Karnataka to look after government recruitment particularly in recruitment to the state Civil Services. The very first recognized agency, constructred in this context was under the provisions of government order number 1827:80 E.A.G.308, dated 16-05-1921. It was named as the Central Recruitment Board. In 1940, it was appointed with a Public Service Commissioner.
The Public Service Commission was, however, constituted under the provisions of the Indian Constitution on 18-05-195. Recently, the Commission celebrated their Diamond Jubilee on 18-05-2011 with future plans to develop new infrastructure under the name of Vajra Mahotsav Soudha. At present, the Commission conducts operations from the headquarters known as the Udyoga Soudha.
