TGPSC Exam Pattern & Syllabus

Each TGPSC exam has its own pattern. Most share a common shape — a screening Preliminary exam followed by a Main exam — but they differ in the papers, the final stage and the subject focus.

Group 1

Prelims — one objective paper of 150 marks, used to screen for the Mains. Mains — several descriptive papers (with a qualifying General English paper). Interview — a personality test. The Mains scheme has been revised in recent notifications — confirm the current paper list on the official site.

Group 2

Four objective papers of 150 marks each (600 total), with negative marking, followed by certificate verification. There is no interview; selection is on the written marks.

Group 4

A single objective written exam covering General Studies and Secretarial Abilities, with a typing/skill requirement for some posts. There is no interview. Confirm the marks and marking scheme in the notification.

Syllabus

Questions test general studies, current affairs, and the subject knowledge specific to each post, at the standard set out in each exam's official syllabus on tgpsc.gov.in.
