UPSC Exam Pattern 2023 (Updated) – Check IAS Prelims, Mains Pattern

UPSC Exam Pattern 2023 or the IAS Exam Pattern 2023 for prelims and mains have been announced by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). You can know the complete UPSC examination scheme here to prepare for the Civil Services Examination. The exam pattern of UPSC CSE indicates subjects, number of questions, marking scheme, mode, duration, negative marking for UPSC 2023 question paper. Therefore it is important to know this scheme along with syllabus before appearing in the UPSC 2023.

The exam pattern is as follows for this UPSC Exam.

UPSC IAS Prelims Exam Pattern 2023

PaperMarks
General Studies Paper I200 marks
General Studies Paper II200 marks

The exam pattern is as follows

  • Mode of Exam – The exam  is a Offline Pen and Paper based test.
  • Question type – The questions are Objective type.
  • Exam Duration – Each paper is of 2 hours.
  • Language of Question Paper – The question paper is in language Hindi and English.

Negative Marking – 

  • For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate, one-third (0.33) of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty.
