UPSC CMS 2020: Union Public Service Commission has released the interview date of CMS 2020 at upsc.gov.in. Qualified candidates have to appear for the interview to be held from January 18 to February 22, 2021. The Combined Medical Services (CMS) 2020 was held on October 22, 2020. UPSC CMS exam is conducted to recruit candidates as Medical Officers and Junior Scale Posts in Indian governmental departments. Those who have passed the written and practical of final M.B.B.S examination are eligible for the CMS exam 2020. UPSC CMS recruits for 5 different categories with a varied number of vacancies. Overview of UPSC CMS 2020 Exam

The Combined Medical Services Exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission every year. It qualifies and selects eligible candidates for recruitment into different healthcare officer posts of government departments of India. We provide here a brief overview of the CMS 2020 exam in terms of the main features of the central recruitment exam.

  • The CMS 2020 exam is being held for the recruitment of Medical Officers and Junior Scale Posts in Indian governmental departments.
  • One needs to have an MBBS degree awarded by a recognized University in India to apply for the CMS 2020 recruitment exam.
  • Candidates can apply for the exam till the scheduled last date by paying a nominal fee of Rs 200/-.
  • UPSC is providing the facility to withdraw the application form after the closure of the application window.
  • Candidates are sorted through a preliminary screening exam. It is a Computer Based Test of 500 marks.
  • Final selection of candidates is conducted through a Personality Test. It carries 100 marks in total.
  • Final results of the CMS 2020 exam are released by the UPSC after the personality test based on the performance of candidates.

Union Public Service Commission has released the interview dates for the Combined Medical Services 2020. The interview dates is announced at upsc.gov.in. The interview is scheduled to take place from January 18 to February 22, 2021.

Exam Pattern UPSC CMS 2020 

Admission to UPSC CMS is done by qualifying 2 stage procedure. The pattern for both is given below. Candidates can check the same from below:

Stage 1

Stage of the exam contains 2 papers and the pattern for both are given below:

Mode: The exam is a CBT exam
Language: Language of the paper is English.
Duration: Total duration of the exam is 2 hours 
Types of questions: Paper is an objective type paper.
Max. marks: Both papers are 250 marks each.
Marking scheme: It follows a negative marking of 1/3rd of positive marks.

Stage 2: Personality Interview

The total marks for the interview are 100 marks. In this, a candidate is basically tested upon the general knowledge and academic knowledge of their interested field. This test also assesses the candidate’s intellectual curiosity, critical powers of assimilation, the balance of judgment and alertness of mind, the ability for social cohesion, integrity of character, initiative and capability for leadership.

Useful Preparation Tips for UPSC CMS 2020

Every year candidates from all over India apply for the Combined Medical Services exam. It is extremely popular and considered as a prestigious exam among young doctors in the country who have completed their MBBS degree and look forward to get place as officers in the Indian Governmental agencies. Therefore, competition is steep and the syllabus being vast, candidates must take preparations seriously and dedicate all their focus to prepare well for the exam. UPSC CMS Interview Preparation Tips

Tip #1 Questions in the UPSC CMS interview round are asked not only from Medical Field and General Awareness but from various fields. Aspirants should be mentally prepared for a variety of questions.

Tip #2 As per the Dr. Jayati Tripati, UPSC CMS 2016 AIR 26, an interview is conducted for 20 to 30 minutes. So, be prepared for the interview.

Tip #3 Read the interviews of previous IAS toppers, CMS qualifiers to crack the exam in one go.

Tip #4 The Chief Panel of UPSC CMS interview asked questions related to the medical case scenario. Aspirants are advised to practice the medical scenarios available online for the preparation.

Tip #5 Dr. Jayati Tripati suggested aspirants to not answer the questions which they don’t know the answer of. As per her, just skip the questions rather than answering incorrectly.

Prepare for Written Examination

UPSC CMS Admit Card 2020 

Intimation of UPSC CMS Admit Card 2020 is done through Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on the website. The candidates can download the e-admit card from upsc.gov.in. Combined Medical Services (CMS) admit card in two ways. One through registration id and other through roll number of the candidate. There is no provision for the admit card to be sent through post to the candidates. All applicants only have to avail it through online mode. They have the bring the hard copy of the same along with one identity proof on the day of the exam.

UPSC CMS 2020 Selection Process

The Combined Medical Services Exam consists of two stages for the selection of eligible candidates. At first, the provisional eligibility of candidates is determined through the applications received. The UPSC receives online applications till the scheduled last date. After that the candidates are selected through the following stages of selection.

Written exam

The written exam consists of two papers i.e. Paper-I & II. It carries 500 marks. The topics of the written exam are divided into papers of 02 hours each and consist of MCQ type questions only. Each paper consists of 120 questions carrying 04 marks each.

Personality test

The personality test carries 100 marks. Candidates who qualify through the written exam are eligible to appear in the personality test. The purpose of the final interview or personality test is to assess the candidates’ personal aspects such as judgement, intellectual abilities, alertness, leadership capabilities, social cohesiveness etc.

UPSC CMS Answer Key 2020 

The Commission publishes the official answer key for UPSC CMS 2020 as per the announcement. Candidates can avail the answer key from its official website which is upsc.gov.in. Answer key published at first is provisional and is open for objections and challenges. The commission then considers all the objections raised by the candidates. After this a panel of experts, if find them correct then relevant changes are done in the answer key and publishes the final key. This provisional answer key is not open to further changes. 

UPSC CMS Result 2020 

Union Public Service Commission releases the result on the website. It is declared according to the date mentioned in the official notification. Candidates wondering about result can check the same on upsc.gov.in. Result of UPSC CMS is declared in a pdf format. It contains the roll number of the qualified candidates serial wise. The commission releases the result for every stage separately; both for stage 1 and stage 2. The final result of stage 2 implies the admission of the candidate after the verification of the documents.

Eligibility Criteria UPSC CMS 2020 

Mere issuance of the admit card and qualifying the exam does not guarantee admission. Until there will be an eligibility criteria confirmation at the time of verification of the documents. Check the eligibility from below as mentioned in the official brochure.

Nationality

  1. A citizen of India, or
  2. A subject of Nepal, or
  3. The subject of Bhutan, or
  4. A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January 1962
  5. A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka or East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or from Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Note: For a person belonging from category 2 to 5 have to issue a certificate of eligibility from Gov. of India. 

Age Limit

  • Candidates must not have attained the age of 32 years and should not be born earlier than Aug. 02, 1987.

Relaxation

The upper age limit is relaxed in the following cases. The candidates lying in these categories can avail for age relaxation.

Candidates can fill the application form of UPSC CMS 2020 if they fulfil the eligibility criteria as prescribed by the commission. This application form has a 2 part registration. Follow the steps below to easily fill the application form.

Part 1 Registration

1st step: Click on the direct link provided above on this page or visit the official website.

2nd step: After that, the registration page gets open, click on part 1 of registration.

3rd step: A page containing the personal details section get generated. Fill the relevant details and submit it.

4th step: Just after submitting it, another page asking the candidates whether or not want to claim for reservation. If, yes click yes and if not then proceed further. 

5th step: Afterwards, all the details you have entered so far gets reflected in a preview a page. Validate all the information and if needed do the required changes. 

6th step: This will redirect them to the page containing the link for “Part 2 registration”.

Part 2 Registration

Part 2 of the registration process contains four steps to be done to completely fill the application form. These are: 

  1. Selection of exam center
  2. Payment for the application form
  3. Uploadation of the documents 
  4. Agreeing to declaration

The commission has notified the following structure of the fees to be paid. Check the amount to be paid from below:

  1. The unreserved category has to pay an amount of Rs. 200.
  2. Female/SC/ST/PwDB are exempted to pay any fees for the application form.

Ans : Candidates looking for filling up the application form can avail the availability in the 2nd week of March 2020.

Ans : As such no fixed date has been released by the officials but tentatively exam is going to conduct in the month July 2020.

Ans : Candidates have to keep a track of dates from the schedule table to be on time to download the admit card. Tentatively it will get released in the month of June 2020. Because as such no personal information sent to the candidates to download the admit card.
