TNPSC — the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission, Chennai — is the state commission that recruits for the Tamil Nadu state services through its Combined Civil Services Examinations (Group 1, Group 2 and Group 4) and other posts. It conducts several examinations each year; the most sought-after are set out below.

TNPSC also conducts Group 2A, Group 3 and various departmental and technical recruitments. A notable feature is that TNPSC does not use negative marking. Each exam has its own notification, eligibility and schedule.

TNPSC Eligibility
Eligibility for TNPSC exams differs by the post, but a few conditions are common: Indian nationality (with the state's domicile rules for reserved seats), and an upper age limit that is relaxed for reserved categories. The qualification is what changes most from exam to exam.

Age relaxation
The upper age limit is relaxed for SC, ST, OBC, women, PwD and ex-servicemen candidates as per the state rules, and the age is reckoned on the date fixed in each exam's official notification. Always confirm the exact limit and relaxation in the notification you are applying against.
Notes
Some technical, medical and teaching posts require a specific degree — check the post-wise requirement in the relevant notification. Final-year candidates can usually apply, subject to producing proof of passing.
TNPSC Application Form
Every TNPSC application is made online at tnpsc.gov.in. You complete the TNPSC One-Time Registration (OTR) and then apply to each exam with your OTR ID. Every exam has its own notification, application window and fee.
How to apply
- Register / log in on the TNPSC portal and complete your profile.
- Open the notification for the exam you want and start its application.
- Fill your details and post preferences, upload the photograph and signature in the prescribed format, and pay the fee online.
- Submit and keep a printout of the completed application.
