Standard of the questions
Paper I assesses teaching and research aptitude — reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness. Its syllabus has ten units: Teaching Aptitude, Research Aptitude, Comprehension, Communication, Mathematical Reasoning and Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, Data Interpretation, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), People, Development and Environment, and Higher Education System.
Paper II tests the subject the candidate selects, on the subject syllabus prescribed by the UGC.
Medium of the question paper
The question paper is in English and Hindi, except for language subjects.
