CDS Model Papers

CDS model papers (also called sample papers) are full-length practice papers built on the latest CDS exam pattern. Solving them is one of the most effective ways to prepare — you get familiar with the type and difficulty of the questions, learn to manage your time, and find the topics that need more revision before the actual exam.

Why solve CDS model papers?

• Get used to the real exam pattern, section-wise weightage and level of difficulty.
• Build speed and accuracy by practising under timed, exam-like conditions.
• Find your weak areas early and revise them before the exam.
• Get comfortable with the computer-based test (CBT) format and the marking scheme.

CDS exam pattern

The CDS written examination is conducted by UPSC. For the IMA, INA and AFA there are three papers — English, General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics — of 100 marks each (2 hours per paper). For the OTA there are two papers (English and General Knowledge). There is a negative marking of 1/3 mark for each wrong answer, and the written exam is followed by the SSB interview.

How to use these CDS model papers

1. Attempt each paper in a single sitting with a timer, exactly like the real exam.
2. Do not check the answers midway — complete the full paper first.
3. Review your attempt and mark every question you got wrong or guessed.
4. Revise those topics thoroughly, then move on to the next paper.
