Indian Air Force (IAF) has released the notification for conducting the AFCAT 2 2018 Exam. In this context IAF released the AFCAT 02/2018 Application Form today (June 16, 2018) at careerindianairforce.cdac.in and afcat.cdac.in. IAF invites Applications from Indian Citizen to be the part of IAF as Commissioned Officer in Flying & Ground Duty (Technical & Non – Technical). IAF is an air arm of Indian Armed Forces, it is the matter of honor and pride to work with IAF. IAF invites application twice in a year for AFCAT 2 2018 Exam in the month of June & December. And the AFCAT holds in the month of August and February. Type of Commission

Aspirants can take entry in the IAF through two Commissions. SSC and PC. Indian Air Force (IAF) recruits candidates as Commissioned Officers for grant of Short Service Commission (SSC) in Flying Branch and Permanent Commission (PC) / Short Service Commission (SSC) in Ground Duty (Technical) and Ground Duty (Non-technical) Branches.

  • Permanent Commission: In Permanent Commission only male aspirants can apply. Candidates who join under the Permanent Commission have to serve the IAF till the age of superannuation as per their branch and rank.
  • Short Service Commission: IAF recruits Male & Female aspirants both for SSC. If an aspirant joins under SSC then the engagement period would be fourteen years(Non -extendable). Initially, the tenure is for 10 years for the SSC Ground Duty (Technical & Non- Technical). The candidates can request to extend their service but these depends on subject to service requirements, availability of vacancies, willingness, suitability, and merit.

Eligibility for AFCAT 2 2018 Exam

While applying for the most prominent examination of the country, the aspirant should map himself on the set of criteria.

Natinationality: Only Indian Citizen is eligible to apply.

Age Limit:

  • For Flying Branch: The age of the aspirant applying for the Flying Branch should between 20 to 24 years i. e. Their date of birth should fall between July 02, 1995 to July 01, 1999 (both dates inclusive).
  • For Ground Duty (Technical/Non-Technical) Branches: The aspirants whose age is between 20 to 26 years is eligible and his/her DON should fall between July 02, 1995 to July 01, 1999 (both dates inclusive).

Age Relaxation (For Flying Branch Only): By the way, IAF doesn’t provide any relaxation on a particular community. But those who have the Commercial Pilot Licence issued by DGCA (India) will get special relaxation up to 02 years i.e. born between 02 July 1993 to 01 July 1999 (both dates inclusive).

Graduate Degree (Minimum three years degree course) in any discipline from a recognised university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent or cleared section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognised university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
Accounts Branch A B.Com degree holder from a recognized university with a minimum 60% marks or equivalent is eligible to apply.
Education Branch
  • An aspirants who have 60% marks in Graduation(any Discipline) and 50% marks in Post Graduation is eligible to apply.
  • Or An aspirant with an integrated degree with 50% marks is enough.
Metrology Branch Post Graduation in any Science Stream with minimum 50% marks, and Graduation with 55% marks.
For Ground Duty (Technical) Branch
  • Minimum 60% in graduation.
  • Final Year students are also eligible to apply, provided they do not have any backlog at the time of AFSB Testing and produce Degree certificate issued by the University as per the date stipulated in the advertisement.

Physical Standard for AFCAT 2 2018: The aspirants who want to apply for AFCAT have to satisfy the physical standards set by the IAF.

  • Height: The minimum acceptable height for Flying Branch is same for Man and Woman candidates i. e. 162.5 cms.
    For Ground Duty, it varies for Man and Woman i. e. 157.5 cms for Man and 152 cms for a woman.
  • Visual Standards: For Flying Branch is it 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in other, correctable to 6/6 only for hypermetropia. Manifest Hypermetropia must not exceed +2.0D Sph,

Myopia – Nil, and Astigmatism +0.75 D Cyl (within +2.0 D – Max)

Near Vision N-5 each eye.

Color Vision CP-1(ML T).

Marital Status: The aspirants below the age of 25 should be unmarried till the commencement of the course. Widows/Widowers and divorcees (with or without encumbrances) below 25 years of age are also not eligible.

Application Form for AFCAT 2 2018

IAF will release the application form for AFCAT 2 2008 on careerindianairforce.cdac.in and afcat.cdac.in. The aspirants should check the eligibility Criteria before applying. IAF will release the Application form Online this will the only mode for the application submission. Adhaar Card is the mandatory document for the filling application. Submission of one application is sufficient. If later IAF found more than one application then IAF can cancel your candidature.

For applying completely the aspirants have to pay the examination fee of Rs 250/- through Debit Card/ Credit Card/ Net Banking.

In order to apply successfully at first, the aspirants need to create a login through AFCAT Candidate Login. Then they have to fill the entire application form, by entering educational details, Course Preference communication Details, At last uploading signature, photograph, and documents will commit the application submission.

Admit Card for AFCAT 2 2018

After completion of the Application Process IAF will issue the Admit Card for AFCAT 2 2018 at careerindianairforce.cdac.in and afcat.cdac.in. The only mode for getting the Admit Card is online. The registered candidates can get the Admit Card on the official website. The aspirants can get the Admit Card through the Candidate Login on IAF website And you will also receive Admit Card on your registered email ID.

Examination Scheme for AFCAT 2 2018

+ 3 for Correct and – 1 for incorrect

Basically, AFCAT is an Online Test. Which have for parts Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) & Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT). AFCAT is conducted to test the aspirant’s basic knowledge, and EKT is for testing the Technical Knowledge of the candidate. Generally, each candidate who participates in AFCAT have to undergo the AFCAT but only Technical entry candidates have to appear for the EKT.

Examination Language: The language of the Examination is English.

Standard of the Examination: The standard of Numerical Ability Questions will be of Matriculation level. The standard of questions in other subjects will be of graduation level (Indian University).

It is mandatory for the Engineers to appear in both of the test, and they have to pass the EKT. They have to pass EKT along with the AFCAT. The EKT takes place immediately after the AFCAT paper that is as soon as the two hours of AFCAT.

Answer Key for AFCAT 2 2018

The Aspirants who will appear for the AFCAT 2 2018 will desperately wait for the AFCAT Answer keys. The AFCAT Answer keys will work as the conclusion of the exam till the result announced. The Answer Key for AFCAT 2018 will consist of the correct answers and with the help of the answer key, the candidates can cross check their answers. After Conduction of the AFCAT and EKT IAF will release the result for tests. The result will announce at careerindianairforce.cdac.in and afcat.cdac.in. The result will declare the name of the candidates selected for the Air Force Selection Board Test. IAF will call them in one of the Selection Board Air Force. The candidates can check the result through the candidate login.

Selection procedure of AFCAT 2 2018

When IAF release the notification the aspirant seeking the chance have to responds by applying. After that, they have to appear for each step of selection Process if they clear the rounds.

Step 1: AFCAT & EKT is the step one. The candidates have to appear for the test according to the branch they have applied. After clearing this step the aspirants will get a call to attend the next step of the selection procedure is AFSB.

Step 2: Air Force Selection Board Test is the next Round. It is a five day long test cum interview. The AFSB looks in a candidate for an officer like quality and thus selects them on basis of several tests which go on for 5 – 7 days.

  • 1st Day: Phase 1- Officer Intelligence Rating and Picture Perception and Discussion Tests.
  • 2nd Day: Psychological Tests and PABT for Flying Branch candidates
  • 3rd Day: Group Tests/ Interviews
  • 4th Day: Group Tests/ Interviews
  • 5th Day: Group Tests/ Interviews
  • 6th Day: Group Tests/ Interviews, Board Conference.

Step 3: Medical Examination is the last step of the selection. If an aspirant is recommended by AFSB then he/ she will be sent to either Air Force Central Medical Establishment (AFCME), New Delhi or Institute of Aviation Medicine, Bangalore.

Training After AFCAT 2 2018

At last the candidates who will get their name in the All India Merit list will get the call for Training.

Training will commence in the first week of July 2019 for all courses at Air Force Academy Dundigal (Hyderabad). The duration of training for Flying and Ground Duty (Technical) Branches is 74 weeks and that of Ground Duty (Non-Technical) Branches is 52 weeks at Air Force Training Establishments. PAN Card and account in SBI/ Nationalised Bank is mandatory at the time of joining Air Force Academy.

Pay Scale of and Allowances under AFCAT 2 2018

The pay scale of a Flying Officer will according to the Pay 7th Central Pay Commission.

Note: Flight cadets shall receive a fixed stipend of Rs 56,100/- per month for the period of training.

Apart From the Basic pay the Officer will the other allowances as well. The Allowances includes Flying, Technical, Field Area, Special Compensatory (Hill area), Special Force, Siachen, Island Special Duty, Test Pilot & Flight Test Engineer, Area and Remote Locality Allowance.

Other Benefits of Joining Air Force

Travel Allowance

IAF also provides the travel allowance like traveling fare by the shortest route of AC-III Tier/AC Chair Car or actual normal bus fare to the candidates appearing in Air Force Selection Board for the first time will be reimbursed.

Insurance

An IAF Officer will get the Insurance cover of Rs. 75 Lakhs. Additional cover of Rs 10 Lakhs (on contribution) is applicable to Flying Branch Officers.

Privileges

In addition to all the allowances, the IAF officer will also be furnished with the accommodation, comprehensive medical cover for self and dependents, Canteen, Officers’ Mess, loans at subsidized rates, LTC, etc. Leave (60 days annual and 20 days casual) subject to service exigencies.

An IAF Officer get the chance to participate various state of the art facilities to play various sports and adventure activities (skydiving, microlight flying, mountaineering, water rafting etc.)
