MPPSC Exam Pattern & Syllabus

Each MPPSC exam has its own pattern. Most share a common shape — a screening Preliminary exam followed by a Main exam — but they differ in the papers, the final stage and the subject focus.

State Service Exam (SSE)

Prelims — two objective papers: General Studies (200 marks) and General Aptitude / CSAT (200 marks), used only to screen candidates for the Mains. Mains — six descriptive papers (General Studies I–IV, General Hindi and an Essay) totalling 1,400 marks. Interview — a personality test. The final merit is drawn from the Mains and the Interview.

State Forest Service (SFS)

The Forest Service Prelims is commonly held jointly with the State Service Prelims. Candidates then sit a descriptive Mains and an Interview, followed by Physical Standard and Medical tests that are specific to the forest cadre.

State Engineering Service (AE)

The Engineering Service is a single written examination in the relevant engineering branch, followed by an Interview. Refer to the official notification for the current paper-wise marks.
