MPSC Rajyaseva (State Services Examination) — the Maharashtra state civil services exam conducted by MPSC in three stages: Prelims, Mains and Interview.

MPSC Rajyaseva — the State Services Examination — is the Maharashtra state civil services exam, conducted by the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC). Through it the state fills senior posts such as the Deputy Collector, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and Tehsildar. It is a competitive exam decided by merit, in three stages: Preliminary, Main and Interview. From 2025 the Commission moved to a new UPSC-style descriptive Mains.

Exam pattern in brief

The Preliminary exam has two objective papers of 200 marks each — General Studies and a CSAT (qualifying). The new Main exam has nine descriptive papers, of which 1,750 marks count for merit, and the Interview carries 275 marks. The final merit is drawn from the Mains and the Interview.

Eligibility

A candidate must be a graduate and aged about 19 to 38 years, with the usual relaxations set in the notification.
