RRB Section Controller Exam Pattern & Syllabus

RRB Section Controller is selected through a Computer Based Test (CBT) and a Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT), followed by Document Verification and a Medical Examination.

Computer Based Test (CBT)

The CBT is a single objective paper of 100 questions in 90 minutes (120 minutes for eligible PwBD candidates), with one-third (1/3) negative marking for a wrong answer. It covers:

  • General Awareness and General Science
  • Mathematics (Arithmetic)
  • General Intelligence and Reasoning
  • Current Affairs and general knowledge

Scores are normalised across shifts. Candidates are shortlisted for the CBAT on the basis of the CBT, subject to the minimum qualifying marks (UR/EWS 40%, OBC-NCL 30%, SC 30%, ST 25%).

Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)

The CBAT is a psycho-aptitude test taken in English/Hindi with no negative marking. A candidate must secure the minimum qualifying T-score in each of the test batteries to pass; it is a required stage for this safety-category post and its marks count towards the final merit as specified in the CEN.

Document Verification & Medical

Candidates are finally called for Document Verification and a Medical Examination against the prescribed medical standard for the post. For the exact section-wise marks and the current syllabus, refer to the CEN 03/2026 notification.
