Reserve Bank of India is all set to release the notification soon in October or November for the eligible candidates to apply for the post of Assistant. According to newspapers and journals, it is believed that the online submission of the form will begin in the aforementioned month with the exam to be held in the month of December 2017.

The application may start from the 1st week of October and till 4th week of the same month in which it starts. The entrance exam shall take place in the 4th week of the next month of the same year. The applications will be done in online mode by creating an official account where the candidate will provide their basic, details, educational details, upload scanned photographs and signatures etc. All the eligible candidate must note that they read the instruction manual before they begin to apply. Eligibility Criteria

Educational Criteria: – Candidate must have passed 3 years graduate degree with atleast 50% marks from any institute or university recognized by the Govt.

Age: The Applicant should be between 20 to 28 years as on 07 November 2017. However reserved category candidates are entitled to age relaxation which will be as follows:-

Pay Scale

Selected Candidates will draw a starting basic pay of Rs. 14650/- per month (i.e. Rs. 13150 plus two advance increments admissible to graduates only) in the scale of 13150-750 (3)-15400- 900(4) -19000-1200(6)-26200-1300 (2)-28800- 1480(3) – 33240 – 1750 (1)- 34990 (20 years) and other allowances such as Dearness Allowance, City Compensatory Allowance, House Rent Allowance, Transport Allowance etc. as admissible from time to time.

At present the amount paid can be Rs. 32124/-

Note: Where as if the candidate applied for SSC and similar examination he would be paid a Pay Band –II Rs.9300-34800 (pre-revised)

Application Fee

Since there is no notification as of now, here is the application fee charges based on the previous year data available

Application Process

First of the institution will release a notification officially informing the dates, application fees, eligibility criteria, etc on the website of the bank at or here. Then the candidates will start filling up the form using the activated link available on the site. The general process followed last year wa as follows:-

  • Fill the necessary details
  • Uploading scanned photograph and signature

  • Dimensions 200 x 230 pixels (preferred)
  • Size of file should be between 20kb–50 kb

Signature Specifications

  • Dimensions 140 x 60 pixels (preferred)
  • Size of file should be between 10kb – 20kb

Exam Pattern

The exam conducted under IBPS (Institute of Banking Personnel Selection) has two levels: Preliminary that lasts upto 1 hr and Main which is of 2 hrs. The total marks for the former are 100 and it comprises of questions from English language, Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude (QA). There is negative marking scheme of ¼ marks for each wrong answer. And the Main exam will have 200 marks with English, Reasoning, QA, General Knowledge and Computer Knowledge (Basics). Once you clear both the exams, you become eligible for an Assistant post.

NOTE for Biometric Capturing and Data Verification- On the main day of the examination, the candidates will also undergo a biometric date capturing and verification of thumb impression and photograph of the candidate.

Exam Centres

The exact address of the exam centre shall be printed on the admit card. However, there are more than 33 centres spread across the states in all over india, which shall allow the intake of candidates to write their exam. The states include- Arunachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Andaman and Nicobar, Jammu and Kashmir, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Bihar, Chandigarh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa, Nagaland, Uttarakhand, Meghalaya etc.

  • Written Preliminary Examination- 100 marks
  • Main exam- 200 marks
  • Interview- 35 marks

Result Declaration

Candidates will appear for the Preliminary exam first. The ones who are able to secure minimum percentage of marks, their names will feature in the merit list region wise and they will move to Main examination. And the candidates who get desire marks in Main exam will feature in the merit list and will be called for the interview process. There are 35 marks assigned for the interview.

Selected candidates will be initially posted in RBI’s office within the Recruitment Zone mentioned as West, South, North and East Zone

  • (a) West Zone: Ahmedabad, Bhopal (including Raipur), Mumbai (including Belapur), Nagpur, Pune and Panaji.
  • (b) South Zone: Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram.
  • (c) North Zone: Chandigarh (including Shimla), Jaipur, Jammu / Srinagar, Kanpur, Lucknow (including Dehradun), New Delhi.
  • (d) East Zone: Bhubaneswar, Guwahati (including all North Eastern states), Kolkata, Patna (including Ranchi)
