IBPS PO — the Common Recruitment Process for Probationary Officers / Management Trainees — is conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) to recruit for Probationary Officer / Management Trainee in the participating Public Sector Banks. The CRP PO/MT-XVI (2026-27) cycle declares 7,565 as on 27 August 2026 — 3,017 UR, 2,069 OBC, 1,161 SC, 741 EWS and 577 ST.

What counts towards the final merit

Only the Main Examination and the Interview count. The Preliminary Examination is purely a screening test and its marks are discarded once you clear it.

Document verification

Originals are checked against everything declared in the application — qualification, category, age and any relaxation claimed. Certificates must be in the prescribed formats and dated on or before the closing date of the application. A candidate found ineligible at this point loses the candidature regardless of score.

In CRP PO/MT-XVI the Preliminary Examination carries 30 questions in English for 30 marks, 35 in Quantitative Aptitude for 30 marks and 35 in Reasoning for 40 marks. Earlier cycles marked all three at one mark per question. Reasoning is now worth more per question than Quantitative Aptitude, which should change how you allocate the 20 minutes given to each section.

What is next for IBPS PO

The CRP PO/MT-XVI Preliminary Examination was held on 22 and 23 August 2026 and its result was declared on 23 September 2026; the Main Examination was scheduled for 4 October 2026. The Main Examination result is due in November 2026, with interviews in November / December 2026, as per the tentative schedule in the notification. These vacancies are for the financial year 2027-28.
