UPPSC HEO 2025: 221 Health Education Officer Posts, Eligibility

UPPSC HEO is the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission's recruitment of Swasthya Shiksha Adhikari (Health Education Officer) for the Directorate General of Family Welfare, Uttar Pradesh. The current cycle, Advertisement No. D-6/E-1/2025 dated 22 December 2025, is for 221 posts. Exam pattern in brief

Under the Commission's exam-scheme notice of 15 April 2026, the screening test is one objective paper of 150 multiple-choice questions to be answered in 2 hours. Each question carries 3 marks, for a total of 450. Part I, General Studies, has 50 questions (150 marks) and Part II, Social Science subject knowledge, has 100 questions (300 marks). One third (0.33) of a question's marks is deducted for a wrong answer, and the interview carries 50 marks.

Educational qualification

A candidate must have a Master's degree from a recognised university in Sociology or any subject of Social Science, held by the last date of receipt of the online application. A government letter of 30 October 2024 quoted in the advertisement lists the social science subjects as Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, Social Psychology, Political Science, Geography, History and Economics. Knowledge of Hindi is essential.

Preference, other things being equal, goes to candidates with experience of extension work, training under family welfare, two years in the Territorial Army, or a 'B' certificate of the National Cadet Corps.

Age limit

The age limit is 21 to 40 years, calculated as on 1 July 2025. The upper limit is relaxed by five years for SC, ST and OBC candidates, skilled players of Uttar Pradesh and State Government employees of Uttar Pradesh; only persons domiciled in Uttar Pradesh get this relaxation. PH candidates get 15 years. For emergency and short service commissioned officers and ex-army personnel of Uttar Pradesh, the limit is greater by 3 years plus the period of army service. PH sub-categories are not notified for this post.

Application process and fee

Applications were taken online at uppsc.up.nic.in from 22 December 2025 to 22 January 2026, the last date for both fee payment and submission. Corrections and fee reconciliation were allowed until 29 January 2026. One Time Registration (OTR) was mandatory, and candidates without an OTR number had to obtain it from otr.pariksha.nic.in 72 hours before applying.

Dependents of freedom fighters, women and skilled players pay the fee of their original category. The Commission sends further information by SMS or email to the mobile number and email ID linked in OTR.

Within these, the horizontal reservation is 04 for dependents of freedom fighters, 00 for PH, 11 for ex-servicemen and 44 for women. The advertisement notes that vacancy numbers may increase or decrease depending on requirements.

Selection process

1. Screening test: held under the UPPSC (Direct Recruitment through Screening Examination) Regulations, 2025. Only candidates who qualify are called for interview, as per the Commission's standard.
2. Minimum efficiency: SC and ST candidates need at least 35% in the screening test and other categories 40%; those below are treated as disqualified.
3. Documents: after the screening test, or when asked, candidates submit the hard copy of the online application with self-attested marksheets and certificates.
4. Interview: 50 marks; original certificates are verified at the interview.
5. Final merit: 75% of the screening test marks plus 25% of the interview marks.

Salary and nature of post

Swasthya Shiksha Adhikari is a Group-B, Gazetted post in Pay Level-7, with the scale ₹44,900–1,42,400 (written in the advertisement as Rs. 44900-142400/-). Service conditions follow the Uttar Pradesh Extension Educators Service Rules, 1985 (as amended).

Current status

The admit-card notice of 26 September 2026 fixed the screening test for 4 October 2026 in one session, from 9:30 to 11:30 AM, in Aligarh, Bareilly, Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, Kanpur Nagar, Lucknow, Meerut, Prayagraj and Varanasi. Admit cards were to be on the website on 1 October 2026. As of 29 October 2026, no answer key appears on the Commission's View Answer Key page and its Results page lists no result for this exam.
