RPF Constable CBT

The RPF Constable CBT is an objective examination. The Examination follows the 10th Grade/ Matric level pattern. Candidates can take the exam in any of the 15 available languages, English being the default language. Candidates get 1 mark for each correct answer and 1/3 marks are deducted for each wrong answer. The RPF Constable CBT contains 120 Questions and a time period of 90 Minutes is allowed to finish the CBT. The questions are asked from General Awareness, which is of 50 marks and from General Intelligence and Arithmetic, of 35 marks each. The qualifying percentage for the examination is 35%, while for the SC/ST students, it is 30%.

Calculation of marks under CBT- (Number of Right Answers) x 1- (Number of wrong answers) x 1/3

For eg., If a candidate attempts 100 questions and get 82 of them right then,  82 x 1 – 18 x 1/3 = 82-6= 76. Which means a candidate will be given 76 marks out of the 100.

RPF Constable Physical Measurement Test(PMT)

Both the Male and Female candidates have to go through a Physical Measurement Test. A candidate must fulfill the minimum measurement requirements to advance and take the Physical Efficiency Test. For male candidates, both the Height and Chest measurements are considered, while female candidates only have to fulfill the height criteria. The measurement is done in the Centimeters Unit. The PMT requirement are as follows
For Male Candidates

Category Height(In Cms) Chest(Unexpanded) Chest(Expanded)

For Female Candidates

Category Height(in Cms)
UR/OBC 157
SC/ST 152
Garhwals, Marathas, Dogras, Kumaonese and other Categories specified by the Government 155

RPF Constable Physical Efficiency Test(PET)

Candidates 8 times the total vacancies for each community are called for the PET, which can be decreased or increased as per the requirement. Candidates, who pass the Physical Measurement Test then take the Physical Efficiency Test(PET). Under this PET, candidates have to perform activities like running, long jump and high jump. The PET checks the physical capabilities of a candidate. Following are the requirements for both male and female candidates:-

Category Long Jump High Jump 1600 Meters Running 800 Meters Running
Female 9 Feet 3 Feet For Male Candidates Within 3 Minutes 40 seconds
Male 14 Feet 4 Feet Within 5 Minutes 45 seconds For Female Candidates

Note- Only one chance is given for the running task, while two chances are given for long jump and high jump each.

RPF Constable Final Merit List and Document Verification

The RPF Constable Final Merit List is based upon the qualification of the PET and the marks obtained in the CBT. If two candidates have equal number of marks, the preference will be given to the candidate older in age. Then the Recruitment body calls the shortlisted students for a Document Verification process. A candidate is required to submit documents like, educational certificates, date of birth proof, etc. on the Document Verification day.
A candidate is not given any extra time to submit the documents and must do it on the Document Verification day. The candidature is cancelled in case of a missing document, so a candidate must produce all the relevant documents. Candidates who are called for the Document Verification must then go to a Railway hospital for a Medical Verification.

RPF Constable Medical Verification

A candidate must fulfill the medical standards specified by the Indian Railways. If the candidate doesn’t fulfill those standards, the candidature is cancelled. The candidate must at least belong to the “B1” category as per the Railways medical standards. Candidates who wear glasses, have a flat foot, squint eyes, knock knee, colour blindness or any other physical defects are considered ineligible. A strong vision sense is emphasised under the B-1 category.
