Assam TET Eligibility
To appear in the Special Assam TET 2026 a candidate must be a permanent resident of Assam and hold the minimum academic and professional qualifications prescribed by the NCTE for the level applied for.
Paper I — Lower Primary (classes I to V)
Any one of the following:
- Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known); or
- Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.); or
- Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education); or
- Graduation and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).
Paper II — Upper Primary (classes VI to VIII)
Any one of the following:
- Graduation and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known); or
- Graduation with at least 50% marks and B.Ed.; or
- At least 55% marks in Post Graduation (or equivalent grade) and a 3-year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed.; or
- Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.); or
- Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 4-year B.A./B.Sc.Ed. or B.A.Ed./B.Sc.Ed.; or
- Graduation with at least 50% marks and a 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education).
The minimum percentage in graduation does not apply to candidates who had already taken admission to a B.Ed., B.El.Ed. or equivalent course before 29 July 2011.
Relaxation
A relaxation of up to 5% in the academic marks in HSSLC or Graduation is allowed for SC / ST / OBC / MOBC / PWD(PH) candidates, for both Paper I and Paper II. For PH candidates the degree of disability must be at least 40%, certified by the competent authority.
