GTET July 2026 has reached the certificate stage: on 8 October 2026 the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) announced that the certificates of qualified candidates of the July 2026 test are ready for collection. The test was held on 21 and 22 July 2026; certificates are handed over in person at the Board office.
How to collect the GTET July 2026 certificate
- Where: the Board Office, IT LAB-1, at Alto Betim, during office working hours, from 8 October 2026.
- What to bring: your GTET hall ticket, for identity verification.
- Rule: the certificate is handed over only after the candidate's identity is properly verified.
The Board's previous certificate notice, signed on 16 February 2026 and addressed to all GTET candidates, accepted either the GTET hall ticket or any valid government photo ID such as an Aadhaar card, passport, driving licence or voter ID. The July 2026 notice names only the hall ticket, so carry it.
GTET pass marks
Under the NCTE revised guidelines (Elementary) 2016 and the GTET rules approved by the Government of Goa, each paper is out of 150 — 150 one-mark multiple-choice questions with no negative marking.
| Category | Pass mark |
|---|---|
| General | 60% (90 out of 150) or more |
| SC, ST, OBC, differently able | 55% (83 out of 150) or more |
Paper I is for those who intend to teach classes I to V and Paper II for classes VI to VIII.
Mark sheet, certificate and validity
- GBSHSE gives GTET mark sheets to all candidates and eligibility certificates only to those who qualify.
- The GTET certificate is valid for a lifetime.
- There is no limit on attempts, and a candidate who has passed may appear again to improve the score.
- A duplicate mark statement or pass certificate costs ₹1,000 per document plus postal charges, paid by demand draft in favour of the "Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Alto Porvorim Goa" from a nationalised bank, payable at Goa, with an application stating the cause.
What the GTET result does not do
School managements are to give weightage to GTET scores in recruitment, but qualifying confers no right to recruitment or employment. GBSHSE does not verify eligibility before the test; being allowed to sit does not mean you are eligible, and the recruiting agency or appointing authority verifies every criterion, including the GTET pass. Furnishing false, wrong or inaccurate information can lead to cancellation of the test result, forfeiture of the certificate and even prosecution.
The GTET applies to Government schools, schools aided by the Government of Goa or local bodies, and private schools under the Government's administrative control. In Circular No. 47 of 17 July 2026, the Board reminded school heads that TET is a mandatory qualification for teachers of classes I to VIII under Section 23(1) of the Right to Education Act, 2009.
