Jharkhand TET Eligibility

JHTET eligibility follows the Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test Rules, 2026 and the NCTE framework. A candidate must be a citizen of India, must not have been convicted by a competent court in a criminal case, and must hold the academic and teacher-training qualifications prescribed for the level applied for.

Academic and training qualifications

The required qualifications are those laid down in the JAC notification no. 487 dated 26 March 2026 (Jharkhand TET Rules, 2026), in line with the NCTE norms:

  • Level 1 (classes I–V) — Senior Secondary with the prescribed marks together with a Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) / B.El.Ed., or graduation with D.El.Ed., as recognised by the NCTE.
  • Level 2 (classes VI–VIII) — Graduation together with a Diploma in Elementary Education or B.Ed., or the relevant four-year integrated course, as recognised by the NCTE.

A candidate must hold the minimum qualification as on the date the advertisement is published. Those appearing in the final examination of the prescribed training course may also apply, subject to submitting the verified final result before appointment, in line with the NCTE letter dated 4 August 2022.

Relaxation in qualifying marks (educational qualification)

A relaxation of 5% in the minimum marks of the prescribed educational qualification is allowed to SC, ST, PVTG, Backward Class 1, Backward Class 2 and differently-abled candidates.

Age

The minimum age is 21 years as on 1 August of the examination year; the maximum age is as fixed for government service, with the relaxations notified for Para/Sahayak teachers (up to 58 years) and for the gap between successive TETs.
