JHTET β the Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test, also written JTET β is conducted by the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC), Ranchi under the Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test Rules, 2026. It is a qualifying test for appointment as a teacher in the state's elementary schools, held at two levels:
- Level 1 β Primary, for classes I to V.
- Level 2 β Upper Primary, for classes VI to VIII.
A candidate may appear at one level or both. The JHTET 2026 notification (Advertisement 24/2026) was published in March 2026, and online applications are open from 21 April to 21 May 2026.

JHTET qualifies you to apply β it does not appoint you
Qualifying JHTET does not confer any right to appointment as an Assistant Teacher or Special-Education Assistant Teacher. It is only an eligibility test; the vacancy is filled through a separate recruitment process, and eligibility is finally verified at the time of appointment.
