Jharkhand TET (JHTET) 2026 - Notification, Eligibility, Syllabus

JHTET — the Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test, also written JTET — is conducted by the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC), Ranchi under the Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test Rules, 2026. It is a qualifying test for appointment as a teacher in the state's elementary schools, held at two levels:

• Level 1 — Primary, for classes I to V.
• Level 2 — Upper Primary, for classes VI to VIII.

A candidate may appear at one level or both. The JHTET 2026 notification (Advertisement 24/2026) was published in March 2026. Online applications ran from 21 April 2026, with the last date extended to 20 July 2026 (Web Notice 29/2026). The examination is on 1 November 2026, and admit cards are available from 15 October 2026.

• Conducting body: Jharkhand Academic Council, Ranchi.
• Levels: Level 1 (classes I–V) and Level 2 (classes VI–VIII).
• Mode: a single objective (OMR) paper per level, 150 marks, 2 hours 30 minutes, with no negative marking.

Qualifying marks

JHTET qualifies you to apply — it does not appoint you

Qualifying JHTET does not confer any right to appointment as an Assistant Teacher or Special-Education Assistant Teacher. It is only an eligibility test; the vacancy is filled through a separate recruitment process, and eligibility is finally verified at the time of appointment.

Jharkhand TET Eligibility

JHTET eligibility follows the Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test Rules, 2026 and the NCTE framework. A candidate must be a citizen of India, must not have been convicted by a competent court in a criminal case, and must hold the academic and teacher-training qualifications prescribed for the level applied for.

Academic and training qualifications

The required qualifications are those laid down in the JAC notification no. 487 dated 26 March 2026 (Jharkhand TET Rules, 2026), in line with the NCTE norms:

• Level 1 (classes I–V) — Senior Secondary with the prescribed marks together with a Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) / B.El.Ed., or graduation with D.El.Ed., as recognised by the NCTE.
• Level 2 (classes VI–VIII) — Graduation together with a Diploma in Elementary Education or B.Ed., or the relevant four-year integrated course, as recognised by the NCTE.

A candidate must hold the minimum qualification as on the date the advertisement is published. Those appearing in the final examination of the prescribed training course may also apply, subject to submitting the verified final result before appointment, in line with the NCTE letter dated 4 August 2022.

Relaxation in qualifying marks (educational qualification)

A relaxation of 5% in the minimum marks of the prescribed educational qualification is allowed to SC, ST, PVTG, Backward Class 1, Backward Class 2 and differently-abled candidates.

Age

The minimum age is 21 years as on 1 August of the examination year; the maximum age is as fixed for government service, with the relaxations notified for Para/Sahayak teachers (up to 58 years) and for the gap between successive TETs. Confirm your own eligibility against the Rules 2026 before applying.

Jharkhand TET Application Form

The JHTET 2026 application is submitted online at jactetonline.com, through the Exam Form Portal linked from jac.jharkhand.gov.in, from 21 April 2026, with the last date extended to 20 July 2026; a correction window ran from 20 to 31 August 2026. Only online applications are accepted. Candidates who had paid the fee under the earlier Advertisement 30/2024 must apply afresh, without paying the fee again.

Fee

The fee, once paid, is not refundable.

How to apply

1. Read the JHTET 2026 rules, notification and syllabus on jac.jharkhand.gov.in before starting.
2. Fill the online form carefully — the admit card, result and certificate are all generated from the details you enter, and no correction is allowed afterwards.
3. Choose the level(s) — Level 1, Level 2 or both — and your Language I and Language II.
4. Pay the fee online and save the confirmation.

The examination is on 1 November 2026, and admit cards can be downloaded from jac.jharkhand.gov.in from 15 October 2026; admit cards are not sent by post.
