Nagaland Teacher Eligibility Test (N-TET) conducted by SCERT Nagaland for teachers of classes I to VIII.

Nagaland TET β€” the Nagaland Teacher Eligibility Test, written N-TET β€” is conducted by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Nagaland, the state academic authority, under the Right to Education Act, 2009 and the NCTE guidelines. It is a qualifying test for appointment as a teacher for classes I to VIII in the state's schools, held in two papers:

  • Paper I β€” for those who intend to teach classes I to V (primary).
  • Paper II β€” for those who intend to teach classes VI to VIII (upper primary).

A candidate who intends to teach at both levels sits both papers. N-TET has previously been held in 2013, 2016, 2023, 2024 and 2025.

Exam pattern and qualifying marks

Each paper has 150 multiple-choice questions for 150 marks, on OMR, over two and a half hours, with no negative marking. A candidate qualifies on scoring 60% (General) or 55% (SC / ST / OBC / differently-abled). The N-TET pass certificate is valid for life, for all categories.

N-TET qualifies you to apply β€” it does not appoint you

Qualifying N-TET does not confer any right to recruitment or appointment. It is one of the eligibility conditions for a teaching post in Nagaland; the vacancy is filled through a separate recruitment process. In-service teachers covered by the rules must qualify N-TET by 31 August 2028.
