CG TET — the Chhattisgarh Teacher Eligibility Test — is conducted by the Chhattisgarh Staff Selection Board (CGSSB) — the Chhattisgarh Karmchari Chayan Mandal, which replaced the Chhattisgarh Professional Examination Board (CG Vyapam) under a 2026 state law — on behalf of the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Chhattisgarh. Held under Section 23 of the Right to Education Act, 2009, it is a qualifying test for teaching posts in the state's schools — clearing it certifies that you meet the standard to be considered for a teaching post, and is separate from the recruitment that fills vacancies.
The latest cycle, officially CG TET 2025 (Vyapam session code TET26), was conducted on 1 February 2026. Two separate papers are held: Paper I for those who intend to teach classes I to V, and Paper II for classes VI to VIII. A candidate who wishes to teach at both levels sits both papers.

Fee
General ₹350, OBC ₹250, and SC / ST / Divyang (PwD) ₹200. Chhattisgarh local-resident candidates who actually appear in the examination have their fee refunded to the bank account from which it was paid.
Qualifying marks
Each paper carries 150 marks. A candidate qualifies on scoring 60% (General) or 50% (SC / ST / OBC non-creamy-layer / Divyang). The qualifying certificate is valid for life.
CG TET qualifies you to apply — it does not appoint you
Qualifying CG TET does not by itself give any right to appointment. It is one of the eligibility conditions for teacher recruitment in Chhattisgarh; the vacancy is filled through a separate selection process. Successful candidates receive an eligibility certificate; others receive only a marksheet.
CG TET Eligibility
CG TET eligibility follows the NCTE framework. The qualification you need depends on the paper you sit — that is, the level at which you intend to teach. Only teacher-training courses recognised by the NCTE (or, for special education, by the Rehabilitation Council of India) are accepted.
Paper I — to teach classes I to V
Any one of the following, completed or being pursued:
- Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known); or
- Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 45% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education, as per the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations, 2002; or
- Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education); or
- Graduation and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
Paper II — to teach classes VI to VIII
Any one of the following, completed or being pursued:
- Graduation and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education; or
- Graduation with at least 50% marks and a 1-year or 2-year B.Ed.; or
- Graduation with at least 45% marks and a 1-year B.Ed., as per the applicable NCTE regulations; or
- Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.); or
- Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 4-year B.A./B.Sc.Ed. or B.A.Ed./B.Sc.Ed.; or
- Graduation with at least 50% marks and a 1-year or 2-year B.Ed. (Special Education).
Relaxation and notes
Reserved-category candidates (SC / ST / OBC non-creamy-layer / Divyang) get a relaxation of up to 5% in the required academic marks. A candidate holding a D.Ed. or B.Ed. (Special Education) must, after appointment, complete a 6-month NCTE-recognised special training in elementary education. Confirm your own combination of degree and training qualification against the CG TET information bulletin before applying.
CG TET Application Form
The CG TET 2025 (TET26) application was submitted online through the CG Vyapam portal — vyapamcg.cgstate.gov.in — from 13 November to 8 December 2025, with a correction window from 9 to 11 December 2025. There is no offline form.
Fee
| Category | Fee |
|---|---|
| General (unreserved) | ₹350 |
| OBC | ₹250 |
| SC / ST / Divyang (PwD) | ₹200 |
The fee is paid online. Chhattisgarh local-resident candidates who actually appear in the examination have the fee refunded to the same bank account from which it was paid.
How to apply
- Complete the one-time Profile Registration on the Vyapam portal (photograph and signature scanned in the required format, 50–100 KB each).
- Fill the CG TET application form — your profile details flow in automatically.
- Choose the paper(s) you are applying for and your examination district.
- Pay the fee online and press SUBMIT; the application is only complete once submitted after payment. Save a printout.
A candidate sitting both Paper I and Paper II applies and pays for each accordingly. Read the department's eligibility rules before applying — being allowed to sit the exam does not by itself prove eligibility, which is verified at recruitment.
