AP TET — the Andhra Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test — is conducted by the Department of School Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh as an eligibility test for teaching posts in the state's schools. It is a qualifying test: clearing it establishes that you meet the standard required to be considered for a teaching post, and is separate from the recruitment process that actually fills vacancies.

The AP TET 2026 notification was released on 5 June 2026. The exam was held as a computer-based test between 5 and 16 August 2026, in two sessions each day, and the results were declared on 13 September 2026.

Papers

AP TET is set at three levels, and a candidate who intends to teach at more than one level sits more than one paper:

  • Paper I (Paper 1A) — for those who intend to teach classes I to V.
  • Paper I (Paper 1B) — the special-education variant of Paper I, in line with Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) norms.
  • Paper II — for those who intend to teach classes VI to VIII, taken by subject area (Mathematics & Science, or Social Studies, or a language).

The examination runs in two sessions daily — Session I from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon and Session II from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Because candidates sit across many sessions, scores are normalised across sessions before the result is declared.

Fee

The examination fee is ₹1,000 per paper. A candidate sitting more than one paper pays the fee separately for each paper.

Qualifying marks

Each paper carries 150 marks. AP TET is qualifying, not competitive, so the pass mark is fixed and does not vary by year:

OC / EWS60% and above90
BC50% and above75
SC / ST / PwBD / Ex-Servicemen40% and above60

AP TET qualifies you to apply — it does not appoint you

Qualifying AP TET does not by itself confer any right to appointment. It is one of the eligibility conditions for recruitment to a teaching post; the vacancy itself is filled through a separate selection process. The qualifying certificate is issued digitally and is available through DigiLocker.

What is next

The AP TET 2026 results were declared on 13 September 2026. A separate Special AP TET for in-service teachers, notified on 24 August 2026, was held from 11 to 15 October 2026; the initial key was scheduled for 24 October 2026 and the results for 15 November 2026.

AP TET Eligibility

AP TET eligibility follows the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) framework, applied by the Department of School Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh. The qualification you need depends on the paper you sit — that is, the level at which you intend to teach.

Paper I — to teach classes I to V

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks, together with a teacher-training qualification — a Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed. / D.Ed.), or a Diploma in Education (Special Education), or a four-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.), or a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) recognised for the primary level, in each case completed or being pursued as recognised by the NCTE. The relaxation in the minimum percentage for reserved categories is as notified.

Paper II — to teach classes VI to VIII

A Bachelor's degree together with a recognised teacher-training qualification — a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), or a Diploma in Elementary Education, or the relevant four-year integrated course (B.A. B.Ed. / B.Sc. B.Ed. / B.El.Ed.), in line with the NCTE norms for the elementary level. Candidates choose their Paper II subject area — Mathematics & Science, Social Studies, or a language — according to their degree specialisation.

Special education (Paper 1B)

The special-education variant of Paper I requires the teacher-training qualification prescribed by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) for the primary level.

Read the bulletin before you rely on this

The exact minimum percentages, category relaxations, and the list of accepted training qualifications are set out paper by paper in the AP TET 2026 information bulletin. Confirm your own combination of degree and training qualification against the bulletin before applying — an eligibility condition read out of a previous cycle is not safe to rely on.

AP TET Application Form

The AP TET 2026 application is submitted online, during the window from 5 June to 5 July 2026. There is no offline form.

Fee

The fee is ₹1,000 per paper, paid online. A candidate who intends to sit more than one paper — for example Paper I and Paper II — pays ₹1,000 for each paper separately.

Where to apply

The application is made through the official Andhra Pradesh school education portals — cse.ap.gov.in and tet2dsc.apcfss.in. Read the information bulletin in full before starting, because the paper you choose, your Language I and Language II, and your Paper II subject area are all fixed at this stage.

Before you start

  • Read the information bulletin and confirm your eligibility for the paper you intend to sit.
  • Keep a scanned photograph and signature ready in the prescribed format.
  • Decide your Language I and Language II, and — for Paper II — your subject area, before you begin; these choices govern the question paper you receive.
  • Pay the fee for each paper you are applying for, and save the confirmation.

After applying

An online mock test is made available on 15 July 2026 so candidates can practise the computer-based format. Hall tickets are released from 25 July 2026 onwards.

AP TET FAQs

Does clearing AP TET give me a teaching job?
No. A teaching eligibility test qualifies you to apply for teaching posts — it establishes that you meet the required standard. Actual vacancies are filled through a separate recruitment process run by the relevant authority.
