For IES/ISS 2026, UPSC's notice allowed representations on the questions and on the answer key of the objective papers for five days, from the 3rd day of the examination date to 06:00 PM of the 7th day. Only two papers in the whole examination are objective, Statistics-I and Statistics-II, both taken by ISS candidates; IES candidates write descriptive papers only. The exam ended on 21 June 2026, the window has long closed, and the written result came out on 4 August 2026.
How did the IES/ISS 2026 representation window work?
Section 13 of the IES/ISS 2026 notice says representations are made by logging in to https://upsconline.nic.in, under 'Examinations > Representations on Question Paper'. Nothing sent by email, post or hand is accepted, nothing is accepted after the five days, and UPSC does not correspond on them. The notice mentions no fee.
Because IES/ISS runs over several days, UPSC's time-frame notice matters: for a multi-day examination the date of the last paper is the reckoning date for representations on all its papers. Its example is a last paper on 1st July, with representations from 4th July to 8th July (till 6:00 p.m.). IES/ISS 2027 is again a three-day examination, starting 18 June 2027, so under this rule the date of its last paper would set the window for all its papers.
This differs from the IES/ISS 2025 notice, which gave 7 days from the next day of the examination and covered only the questions asked, through https://upsconline.gov.in/miscellaneous/QPRep/.
How to calculate your Statistics score
The notice sets Statistics-I and Statistics-II as objective papers of 80 questions, 200 marks each, to be attempted in 120 minutes. The 2026 Statistics-I booklet says all items carry equal marks, so each question is worth 2.5 marks.
- A wrong answer costs one third (0.33) of the marks for that question, about 0.83 here.
- Marking more than one answer counts as wrong, even if one is right.
- A question left blank carries no penalty.
- No calculator of any kind is allowed in the objective papers.
Score per paper = 2.5 x correct answers minus about 0.83 x wrong answers. Marks are rounded off to two decimal digits at every stage. Your Statistics-I and II totals then sit beside Statistics-III and IV (descriptive, 200 marks each), General English and General Studies (100 marks each) in a 1000-mark written total. UPSC can fix qualifying marks in any or all subjects, and deducts marks where handwriting is not easily legible.
What happens after the representations?
The IES/ISS 2026 examination page carries the ten question papers, uploaded on 22 June 2026. The written result note of 4 August 2026 says mark-sheets will go up on the UPSC website after the final result, that is after the Personality Test, and stay there for 30 days; candidates open them with Roll Number and date of birth. Interviews start on 2 November 2026. The 2026 notice does not give a date for publishing a final answer key.
For comparison, in the 2025 cycle the final result came on 30 September 2025, cut-off marks on 7 October 2025 and the marks of recommended candidates on 15 October 2025.
