IBPS PO Result 2026: Prelims Out, Mains Result Due November

The CRP PO/MT-XVI Preliminary result is out: an IBPS notice dated 29.09.2026 says it "is being made available to the candidates". The Main Examination was scheduled for 4 October 2026, and the notification schedules the Main result for November, 2026. After that come the Personality Test (November, 2026), interviews (November/ December, 2026) and provisional allotment (January, 2027).

How is each IBPS PO result published?

• Preliminary (screening only): the 29.09.2026 notice says the result "is being made available to the candidates". IBPS shortlists "adequate number of candidates in each category" for the Main, and each of the three tests has its own cut-off. The same notice states that only Main Examination marks count for the Personality Test and interview shortlist and for final merit.
• Main (shortlist for Personality Test and interview): in CRP PO/MT-XV this came as a PDF of registration numbers, with a notice dated 09.12.2025. That notice named the Personality Test date (12th December, 2025) and said interviews would start from 16th December, 2025. Main scores are not shared with shortlisted candidates until the interview process is complete.
• Final merit and provisional allotment: the Main and interview are weighted 80:20. Candidates check their allotment status on www.ibps.in with their Registration Number or Roll Number and Date of Birth or Password, as the CRP PO/MT-XV allotment notice of 15.01.2026 described.

Normalisation, cut-offs and ties

Scores from different sessions are normalised by the equi-percentile method, and scores to two decimal points are used for calculations. For the XVI Preliminary, IBPS's Process for Arriving at Scores note explains how corrected scores were equated to a base form and lists the sectional and total cut-offs that were applied. If two candidates have the same score, the one senior in age is placed higher.

What happens after the result?

Candidates shortlisted from the Main take the self-report Personality Test, which is mandatory before the interview. Interviews are conducted by the Participating Banks and coordinated by the Nodal Bank in each State/UT/Region. Each interview carries 100 marks, with a minimum of 40% (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD). In the XV cycle, the shortlist notice required candidates to upload scanned documents through a link on ibps.in and said the photo and thumb impression taken at the Main would be verified at the interview.

Provisional allotment is made on merit-cum-preference against the actual vacancies reported by the banks. The updated Annexure I lists 7,565 indicative vacancies as on 27.08.2026. A reserve list of about 20 percent of the vacancies in each category may be kept. It expires one year after the provisional allotment, or earlier if a fresh allotment is made. Once made, an allotment cannot be changed, and a candidate who does not take up the bank's offer forfeits the chance.
