The Bihar TET or “Bihar Preliminary Teacher Eligibility Examination -2017” was held on 29 June 2017. The exam has been conducted for the teacher recruitment in elementary schools of Bihar for classes I-V and up to class VI-VIII. Application forms were invited by the Bihar School Examination Board from 06 April 2017. The last date to fill the Application Form was 30 April 2017.

Bihar TET 2017 Eligibility Criteria

For class I to V Teacher:-

  • A candidates applying must be a Higher Secondary pass candidate with minimum 50% marks. OR
  • Must have passed 12th class with minimum 45% and a two year’s training in elementary education under National Teacher Education Council. OR
  • Must have passed 12th class with minimum 50% and a 4 year old elementary education training. OR
  • Must have passed 12thy class with minimum 50% and a candidate for the final year in the biennial training. And has passed in the ‘Teacher Eligibility Test’ (TET) organized by the Central or Bihar State Government.

For class VI to VIII Teacher:-

  • A candidates must have obtained a graduate degree in BA / B.Sc. must be enrolled in the first year of a two-year training in primary education. OR
  • A candidate must have obtained a graduate degree with minimum 50% marks and must be enrolled in first year of B. Ed. and must have a last year’s candidate. OR
  • A candidate must have obtained a graduate degree with minimum 45% marks in B Ed, as per National Teacher Education Council. OR
  • A candidate must have passed 12th class with minimum 50% marks and a 4 year old elementary education graduate (BLA) or a candidate for the last year.

Bihar TET 2017 Exam Pattern

There will be two papers in this examination:

  • Paper I- for the post of teachers for class 1-5
  • Paper I- for the post of teachers for class 6-8

NOTE- The person who wants to be eligible to become a teacher in both levels of class I-VIII will have to pass the qualification in both the papers.

Passing Criteria for Bihar TET 2017

To pass the exam, the candidate will have to attain a minimum passing marks required. The table down below shows the criteria as per the category:-

  • Common man – 90 min score
  • Backward Classes / Backward Classes / Female / Disabled – 83 min score
  • Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes – 75 score
