Indian Army Short Service Commission (SSC) conducts Indian Army SSC Tech exam. The candidates qualifying all rounds of Indian Army SSC Tech 58 will be recruited in pre-commission training at the Officer Training Academy (OTA), Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Indian Army SSC Tech 58 Merit List Apr 2022
Indian Army SSC (Tech) 58 Men and Indian Army SSC (Tech) 29 Women, recruit Engineering students (passed out) to eligible posts of Indian Army SSC Tech. Those candidates who have successfully qualified a BE/B.Tech degree in the Engineering streams are called for SSB interviews. The Merit list is solely based on the SSB interviews. Indian Army SSC Tech 58 SSB Dates Out!
SSB Tech 58 SSB Interview Date sent via Email to the Shortlisted Candidates. Also, shortlisted candidates can select the date from the selection link available on their profile at joinindianarmy.nic.in. The date selection link for SSB Tech 58 will remain open till December 28, 2021.
How to Check Indian Army SSC Tech 58 Merit List 2022 and Cut Off
Since the official result, cut-off list and final merit list is released on the official website of Indian Army, candidates can follow these steps to download the result:
- Visit the official website of Indian Army or click on the link provided here at joinindianarmy.nic.in.
- You will be directed to the official website of the Indian Army to open the mainpage you need to provide the Captcha.
- After you have entered the Captcha you will open the main page or homepage of the website.
- On mobile view you can see the left side of the page, under the “Other Link” box you will find the “Merit List and Joining Letter Status” link. Click on that link. (On the PC view the link is present on the upper side of the page)
- You will land on the merit list page where several merit lists will be present.
- You have to look for the Indian Army SSC Tech 58 Merit List 2022 and Cut Off. Click on the available link.
- After you have clicked on it a merit list will be opened in the form of a pdf with the names of selected students.
- Find your Name or Roll number and download the merit list for future references.
What about SSC Tech 58 Shortlist?
After the last date for application form submission, both for SSC T, SSCW T, and SSCW (Non Tech) (Non UPSC), shortlisting process begins. In this shortlisting process, Integrated HQ of MoD (Army) fixes cut off for each stream at its sole discretion. Cut off is fixed on 6th semester of engineering degree / 2nd semester of M.Sc Computer Science / 8th semester of Architecture.
Then those candidates who had applied correctly, and their marks at least equal cut off, are shortlisted for SSB.
If you are shortlisted for SSB, then you will get an email about center allotment via email.

What to do if you are shortlisted?
So you are shortlisted for SSB for SSC Tech 58 / SSC Women Tech 29? Kudos! Now you should gear up for SSB, and also do the following.
- Select SSB date
Go to joinindianarmy.nic.in. In the officer’s selection section, click on “SSB Dates All Entries”. There, click on course to select course, then select the current course, enter your name, and date of birth. You will then be able to select SSB date which is available on a first come first serve basis!
- Download SSB call letter
The selection center assigned to you sends you call letter for SSC Tech SSB via email and SMS. So please check your email and SMS inbox to download your admit card / call letter.
- Attend SSB
You will have to attend SSB interview (5 days process) at any one of these selection centres as assigned to you – Allahabad (UP), Bhopal (MP), Bengaluru (Karnataka) and Kapurthala (Punjab).

SSC Tech 58 Merit List
How does the Indian Army create the merit list? How many candidates will be finally selected? What do I do if I am selected? All these, and many more questions might be swirling in your mind right now. Don’t worry, we’ve got it all covered here!
Selection Process comprises of these two steps
- Shortlisting on basis of qualifying exam marks
- SSB interview
However, merit list is finally on basis of SSB interview marks only. In addition, you should have been able to prove your eligibility and completed all documentation, and also been declared medically fit.
Regarding the number of candidates in merit list, that depends on how many candidates actually make it through to the end of SSB and how far they meet the expectations of the esteemed personnel who take the SSB interviews.
Indian Army SSC Tech Cut Offs
When we say cut off of SSC Tech for joining Indian Army, it refers to the minimum marks needed to get shortlisted for SSB (in Indian Army SSC Tech, candidates first apply and then they are shortlisted for SSB on basis of their scores in qualifying exam). Please note that SSB cut offs are not disclosed.
While SSC Tech 58 cut off will be published with or after merit list, that of the batches before it are made available here for your reference.
Here, cut off = minimum marks required in 6th semester of engineering degree / 2nd semester of M.Sc Computer Science / 8th semester of Architecture.

After SSC Tech 58 Merit List – Training and Commission
Know all about the commission, salary, and other details.
If you are selected through SSC Tech in Indian Army, then you will have to report to Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Here, you will begin pre commission training. You will be on probation at the time of joining. After pre commission training, you will be confirmed for Short Service Commission (Technical) in the rank of Lieutenant.
Training period will be 49 weeks.
Government bears the expense of your training at OTA. Those who complete the same at OTA Chennai, get Post Graduate Diploma in Defence Management and Strategic Studies by University of Madras.
Candidates cannot marry or live with their parents in this duration.
If an officer is reported upon within 6 months from date of confirmation of SSC, as unsuitable to retain, then his/her commission may be terminated at any time.
Officers can be granted Short Service Commission in any arm or service, in any part of the world. The same is as per decision of Integrated Headquarters of Ministry of Defence (Army).
About Short Service Commission
An officer is liable to serve 10 years.
However, this is extendable by a further period of 4 years, if they opt for it, and they are found eligible and suitable for extension of service.
Those who wish to go for permanent commission (PC) will also be considered in the tenth year of service as per eligibility and suitability.
Those who are looking for PC but do not get it can opt for extension of service, and can be granted the same for a period of 4 years, after which, they will be released from army.
Refund of training cost in case of withdrawal
If Lady or Gentleman cadet is withdrawn from training academy for reasons other than medical ground or reasons beyond his/her control, then he/she will be liable to refund the cost of training @11,067 per week, thereafter yearly escalation of 8%pa will be calculated on per capita cost of training for each ensuing year during stay at OTA, Chennai.

Military Service Pay (MSP): MSP to the Officers from the rank of Lt to Brig is Rs.15,500/- p.m (fixed).
Fixed Stipend for Cadet Training: Stipend to Gentlemen or Lady Cadets during the entire duration of training in Service academy i.e. during training period at OTA is Rs 56,100/-p.m.* (Starting pay in Level 10).

Medical Examination – Commonly found defects and important points!
Indian Army finds a lot of candidates lose out towards the end, despite getting through SSB, in the medical round. Thus, candidates are advised to once go through an examination to avoid disappointment during selection.
A few common defects are:
- Wax in ears
- Deviated Nasal Septum
- Hydrocele / Variocele / Phimosis
- Overweight / Underweight
Also, please note that permanent body tattoos are only allowed on inner face of forearm that is from inside of elbow to the wrist and on the reverse side of palm / back side of hand. On any other part of body, permanent body tattoos are not allowed.
