The selection procedure consist of three tiers namely the written test, career assessment and viva-voce. The written examination is held at first, which carries a total of 150 marks weightage. Those who secure the minimum qualifying marks are shortlisted in the SSB Odisha Lecturer Result 2021 and called for appearing in the viva-voce stage conducted by the State Selection Board.

In case two or more candidates have secured the same score in the selection stages, then SSB Odisha adopts the following criteria to resolve the tie.
- If a tie in score exist after Viva-Voce, then the marks of the written exam is considered for determining the merit.
- In case of a tie in the final selection of candidates, then the mark secured in both the written exam & the viva-voce are considered for determining the merit.
- If the tie still exists, then the aggregate percentage of marks secured in PG examination is considered to resolve the tie.
- If the tie still persists, then the date of birth of the candidate is taken into consideration.
