For General Intelligence and Reasoning: The candidates need to prepare for the reasoning by practising the various types of questions. Start with the basic simple questions and then go for the difficult one. Questions asked in SSC CHSL General Intelligence paper are of the type such as find the odd number/letter/ pair, the meaningful order of words, select the odd word, completing series, code writing, identify pattern series, substitution, word problems, statement assumption and implication.
For Quantitative Aptitude: The key to scoring in quantitative aptitude is to practise as much as you can. Start with the basics. You must refer the NCERT books first. NCERT books are very good for clearing the basics. When you have good command over basic questions, you can go for the tricky ones.
Don’t go for solving the whole question. It will take a lot of time. Try making shortcuts for solving a question. You will get not even a minute for a question. Shortcuts will be your key to score.
For English Language: Candidates must read a bit every day. Reading habit helps in creating understanding for the language. Command in the language will ease up solving the questions. For General Awareness: The only way of scoring marks in this section is by knowing about the general events happening in the country and its neighbours. SSC CHSL 2020 Exam Pattern

Mode: This will be a computer based online exam.
Duration: The time duration of paper is 60 minutes for all candidates. However, 80 minutes will be given to VH / OH candidates.
Number of Questions: There is total 100 questions in the question paper.
Maximum marks: It consists of total 200 marks with 2 marks for each question.
Types of questions: Paper consists of Objective (multiple choice questions).
Marking Scheme: For the right answers, the candidates will get 2 marks. And for the wrong answers, 0.5 marks will be deducted.
Mode: This is a written exam.
Duration: The duration for writing this exam is 1 hour.
Maximum marks: The candidates will be evaluated on a scale of maximum marks of 100.
Types of questions: It is a Descriptive paper where the candidates can write in either Hindi or English Language.

Below is the syllabus defined for SSC CHSL 2020 for the exam of Tier-1:
- English Language: The candidate’s command in the English Language is checked in this section. The section will be of 25 questions. There will be questions on the basis of Spot the Error, Fill in the Blanks, Synonyms/ Homonyms, Antonyms, Spellings/ Detecting mis-spelt words, etc.
- General Awareness: The candidate’s knowledge about the daily happenings in the environments of the country and its neighbouring country. The question will have special emphasis on topics pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General policy and scientific research.
- Quantitative Ability: The candidates must practive the numerical questions. This section will check the candidate’s ability to solve the problems related to numeric value.
- Reasoning: The questions in the reasoning sections will be from verbal as well as non-verbal type. The questions will consists from the topic such as Semantic Analogy, Symbolic operations, Symbolic/ Number Analogy, Trends, Figural Analogy, Space Orientation, etc.

About SSC CHSL 2020
