AP TET Eligibility

AP TET eligibility follows the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) framework, applied by the Department of School Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh. The qualification you need depends on the paper you sit — that is, the level at which you intend to teach.

Paper I — to teach classes I to V

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks, together with a teacher-training qualification — a Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed. / D.Ed.), or a Diploma in Education (Special Education), or a four-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.), or a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) recognised for the primary level, in each case completed or being pursued as recognised by the NCTE. The relaxation in the minimum percentage for reserved categories is as notified.

Paper II — to teach classes VI to VIII

A Bachelor's degree together with a recognised teacher-training qualification — a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), or a Diploma in Elementary Education, or the relevant four-year integrated course (B.A. B.Ed. / B.Sc. B.Ed. / B.El.Ed.), in line with the NCTE norms for the elementary level. Candidates choose their Paper II subject area — Mathematics & Science, Social Studies, or a language — according to their degree specialisation.

Special education (Paper 1B)

The special-education variant of Paper I requires the teacher-training qualification prescribed by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) for the primary level.
