The UPTET 2026 answer key stage is over: the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) published the provisional master-set key on 8 July 2026, took objections until midnight on 14 July 2026, and declared the result on 26 August 2026. The next key due is for the Special TET (Advertisement 03/2026) for in-service teachers. That exam is on 3 November 2026, so its key is not out yet.

How did UPTET 2026 objections work?

UPTET 2026 was held on 2 and 3 July 2026 in two shifts a day and on 4 July 2026 in one shift, five shifts in all, at 955 centres in 60 districts. UPESSC's notice of 8 July 2026 published the provisional key for the master set of the question paper. Candidates logged in at upessc.net/tetquestionChallenge with their roll number and date of birth and matched their answers against the master set. Objections could be filed online from 8 July to 12 midnight on 14 July 2026, and objections sent by any other route were not considered. The notice says the guidelines were uploaded on upessc.up.gov.in; it does not state a fee.

How to calculate your UPTET score

Under the UPTET 2026 advertisement, each paper has 150 multiple-choice questions of 1 mark each with four options, over two and a half hours (150 minutes), and there is no negative marking. The paper is Child Development and Pedagogy (30), Language I Hindi (30), Language II English/Urdu/Sanskrit (30), and a 60-question section: Mathematics/Science for Mathematics and Science teachers, Social Studies for Social Studies teachers, or either one for other teachers. Your raw score is the number of answers matching the key. To qualify you need:

  • 90 of 150 marks (60 percent) in the general category;
  • 82 of 150 marks (55 percent) for SC, ST, OBC, EWS, dependants of freedom fighters, ex-servicemen and disabled candidates.

Your published marks may not equal your raw score. Because the test ran in more than one shift, point 9 of the advertisement applies score normalisation for comparative evaluation, using the procedure in the Commission's notice of 26 February 2026. The OMR rules are strict: a sheet with a wrong roll number or registration number, or with the booklet number, language option or Part-IV choice left undarkened, is not evaluated.

What happened after the UPTET 2026 key?

Out of 1994661 registered candidates, the result notice of 26 August 2026 declared 571435 of 713648 primary-level candidates successful (80.07 percent) and 759513 of 1057021 upper-primary candidates successful (71.85 percent). Candidates then sent representations, which had to be e-mailed to [email protected] by 10 September 2026; from 3 September 2026 no offline representations were taken. A 06-member committee sorted them into four categories, one of which was lower marks on the basis of the answer key. Under the decision notice of 16 September 2026, the relief sought on answer-key marks and on normalised scores was not accepted. Errors in names, date of birth or category on certificates are to be corrected through an online application on the Commission's portal. The certificate is valid for life from the result date and is issued through DigiLocker. Qualifying gives no right to a job.

Special TET 2026: what to expect

The notice of 23 October 2026 says the Special TET is on 3 November 2026 at 06 divisional headquarters (Prayagraj, Lucknow, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Meerut and Agra) in two shifts, 09:30 to 12:00 and 02:30 to 05:00, with admit cards from 31 October 2026. The exam has not been held yet, so its answer key is still to come.
