The most recent SO/Steno LDCE result is the written result of the Combined Stenographers' (Gr-B/Gr-I) LDCE 2020, uploaded on 15 September 2026; the SO LDCE 2026 and Steno LDCE 2022–2024 papers will be written on 12 and 13 December 2026. The last full cycle, SO LDCE 2025, ended with its final result on 24 June 2026, and the marks of its recommended candidates went online on 16 September 2026.
How is the SO/Steno LDCE result declared?
Part I: written result
UPSC publishes a press note with category-wise roll-number lists, followed by a list with names. Candidates on the list qualify for Part II, the evaluation of their records of service, and their candidature stays provisional. In the 2025 cut-off a candidate needed at least 10% in each of the three written papers as well as the minimum written total fixed for each category and community. Steno candidates for Categories IV, V, VI, VII and IX also had to clear the qualifying shorthand test. For the 2019 Steno year, held with SO LDCE 2025, that test was held on 20, 27 and 28 December 2025, before the written result.
Part II: evaluation of service record and final result
The final result press note gives category-wise lists, in order of merit, of candidates recommended for inclusion in the Select List year of each service. In 2025 the written total out of 500 and the service-record assessment out of 100 made a final total of 600. If final marks are tied, the 2026 notices rank first on the written total, then on Papers II and III together, then on Paper III, and then by age. Selection follows the DoPT O.M. dated 12.04.2022 and is subject to Civil Appeal No. 629 of 2022. Results for Category III (Railway Board Secretariat Service) are provisional pending O.A. No. 215/2022 before the Central Administrative Tribunal.
What did the last results show?
The SO LDCE 2025 final result covered Categories I, III, VIII, X and XI; in Category I (Central Secretariat Service) it recommended 280 candidates against 283 vacancies. Results of 17 candidates (9 in Category I, 4 in Category III, 1 in Category VIII and 3 in Category XI) were kept in sealed cover. The Steno LDCE 2019 final result of 29 May 2026 recommended 4 candidates against 287 vacancies in Category IV (Private Secretary, CSSS) and 16 against 24 in Category VI.
When are marks published?
The 2025 written result press note promised mark-sheets within 15 days of the final result, kept online for 30 days. The SO LDCE 2025 final result press note said marks would be on the website within fifteen days. For queries, UPSC's Facilitation Counter answers in person or on 011-23385271 and 011-23381125 between 10:00 A.M. and 05:00 P.M. on working days.
