AP TET — the Andhra Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test — is conducted by the Department of School Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh as an eligibility test for teaching posts in the state's schools. It is a qualifying test: clearing it establishes that you meet the standard required to be considered for a teaching post, and is separate from the recruitment process that actually fills vacancies.
The AP TET 2026 notification was released on 5 June 2026. The exam is held as a computer-based test between 5 and 21 August 2026, in two sessions each day, and results are due on 15 September 2026.
Papers
AP TET is set at three levels, and a candidate who intends to teach at more than one level sits more than one paper:
- Paper I (Paper 1A) — for those who intend to teach classes I to V.
- Paper I (Paper 1B) — the special-education variant of Paper I, in line with Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) norms.
- Paper II — for those who intend to teach classes VI to VIII, taken by subject area (Mathematics & Science, or Social Studies, or a language).

The examination runs in two sessions daily — Session I from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon and Session II from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Because candidates sit across many sessions, scores are normalised across sessions before the result is declared.
Fee
The examination fee is ₹1,000 per paper. A candidate sitting more than one paper pays the fee separately for each paper.
Qualifying marks
Each paper carries 150 marks. AP TET is qualifying, not competitive, so the pass mark is fixed and does not vary by year:

AP TET qualifies you to apply — it does not appoint you
Qualifying AP TET does not by itself confer any right to appointment. It is one of the eligibility conditions for recruitment to a teaching post; the vacancy itself is filled through a separate selection process. The qualifying certificate is issued digitally and is available through DigiLocker.
