AP TET- Andhra Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test is conducted by Department of School Education. The objective of this test is to ensure National Standards of Teacher quality in the recruitment process in accordance with the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). All candidates who possess D.Ed. / B.Ed. / Language Pandit / U.G.D.P.Ed./ D.P.Ed./ B.P.Ed. or its equivalent qualifications with requisite percentage of marks obtained can appear for APTET. The candidates who did not qualify in previous TETs can also apply. AP TET

Candidates who wish to appear for AP TET can check all the related details given below. Department of School Education, Andhra Pradesh is going to conduct AP TET for candidate who intends to be teachers for classes I to VIII. AP TET is conducted in all 13 Districts of the State through a Computer Based Test. Schedule for AP TET 2018 is given below.

AP TET Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who are going to apply for AP TET must ensure their eligibility before filling the application form. The candidates who are pursuing final year of any of the Teacher Education Courses can also apply for the next year’s AP TET Examination. Candidates at the time of applying must possess the minimum qualifications prescribed for a teacher for Category- I to V classes (Paper – I) and VI to VIII classes (paper-II (A) & (B)) as given below.

  • Minimum Qualifications for paper-I (Classes I to V ): Intermediate / Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ ST/ BC/ Differently Abled candidates) and pass in 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education / 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) / 2 – year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
    OR
    In case of the candidates, who have passed or admitted to D.El.Ed / D.Ed., course prior to issue of these guidelines must have Intermediate / Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks (40% for SC/ ST/ BC/ Differently Abled candidates) and pass in 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education / 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) / 2 – year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
  • Minimum Qualifications for TET Paper II-A (Classes VI-VIII): 
    • Mathematics and Science Teachers / Social Studies Teachers: Any graduation in concerned subject with at least 50% marks (40% for SC/ ST/ BC/ Differently Abled candidates) and pass in Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) Course / Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) – Special Education).
      OR
      4- year B.A.Ed / B.Sc.Ed., with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ ST/ BC/ Differently Abled candidates).
    • Language Teachers (Classes VI – VIII): Graduation with Language concerned as one of the Optional Subjects (OR) Bachelor of Oriental Language (or its equivalent) (OR) Graduation in Literature (OR) Post Graduation in Language concerned AND Language Pandit Training Certificate/ B.Ed with Language concerned as one of the Methodologies, in respect of Language Teachers.
  • Minimum Qualifications for TET Paper II-B (Classes VI-VIII): 
    • Physical Education Teachers: Must possess Intermediate Certificate issued by the Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh (or) Equivalent certificate recognized by Board of Intermediate Education, Govt. of A.P. and Under Graduate Diploma in Physical Education (U.G.D.P.Ed.) of One or Two years duration/ Diploma in Physical Education (D.P.Ed.) of duration not less than Two years (or equivalent) from any NCTE Recognized Institution.
      OR
      Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent (or) Bachelor’s Degree with
      Physical Education an elective subject (or) Graduate in Physical Education (BPE) at
      least Three years duration and Under Graduate Diploma in Physical Education
      (U.G.D.P.Ed.) of one or two years duration/ Diploma in Physical Education (D.P.Ed)
      of duration not less than two years (or equivalent) from any NCTE Recognized
      Institution.
    • Physical Education Teachers /School Assistant- Physical Education: Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent (or) Bachelor’s Degree with Physical Education an elective subject (or) Graduate in Physical Education (BPE) at least Three years duration.
      AND
      Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.Ed) of at least one year duration course from
      NCTE Recognized University/Institution.

Format: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
Marks rewarded for each correct answer: 1 Mark
Negative marking: No negative marking.
Total number of questions: 150.
Duration of examination: 2 Hours and 30 Minutes.

The Question Paper shall be bilingual (i.e). English followed by the Language-I chosen by the candidates for all Languages except Sanskrit. For the candidates choosing Sanskrit, the questions shall be in Telugu followed by Sanskrit (Devanagari Script).

AP TET Syllabus

For PAPER-I:

  • The test items on Child Development & Pedagogy will focus on Educational Psychology of teaching and learning relevant to the primary level.
  • Candidates can choose Language-I of their choice.
  • The Language- II will be English for all candidates.
  • The syllabus for Language I & II shall be based on Proficiency in the language, Elements of language, communication and comprehension abilities (Standard up to class X level).
  • The difficulty standard as well as linkages of content/topics could be up to Secondary Stage (up to Class X) for testing for Mathematics and Environmental studies.

For PAPER-II (A and B):

  • The syllabus for Language I & II for Paper II-A shall be based on proficiency in the Language, Elements of Language, Communication and Comprehension abilities (standard up to Senior Secondary Level (12th Class). 30 MCQs for Language I and 30 MCQs for Language II will be given on content only while for Physical Education teachers level of English exam will be up to 7th Class.
  • The syllabus for TET of concerned Paper II (A) and are special based and topics of Classes VI to VIII. The difficulty standard of questions as well as their linkages could be up to Senior Secondary Level (12th class).
  • Incentive Marks shall be given to the Physical Education TET candidates under three categories.
