APTET 2019 – Andhra Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test 2019 is expected to be conducted by Commissioner of School Education, AP. Since there is no fixed schedule for conduct of this exam, therefore exam date of APTET 2019 will be known only when exam conducting body announces it. APTET is the state level teacher eligibility test. It consists of Paper I, and II (A, B). Paper I is for candidates who wish to become teachers of classes I to V, and Paper II is for those who wish to teach classes VI to VIII. Notification of APTET 2019 will be published at aptet.apcfss.in. Usually the exam is conducted once a year. In the year 2018, it was held in January and June. As soon as notification of  Andhra Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test 2019 is out, its schedule will be updated below.

What is Paper I and Paper II?

  • Paper I – If you wish to become a teacher of classes I to V, then you must be eligible for Paper I, appear in it, and qualify it.
  • Paper II – If you wish to become a teacher of classes VI to VIII, then you must be eligible for Paper II, appear in it, and qualify it.

Qualifying Marks in APTET

APTET is a qualifying exam, not a competitive exam. This means that all candidates who get the pre-defined qualifying marks clear the exam. There is no upper cap on the number of candidates who can qualify. Thus, set your target as the qualifying marks, and you will definitely make through!

APTET 2019 Exam Pattern

Since you are here looking for details of the exam, the most important piece of information to start with is the exam pattern. Basically it gives you an overview of the exam. This is the starting point for your preparation.

Features of APTET that are common to paper I and II:

  • Both papers have multiple choice questions.
  • Question papers will be bilingual (English and Language I chosen by candidates for all languages except Sanskrit. Those who chose Sanskrit will get paper in Telugu followed by Sanskrit).

  • You get 1 mark for correct answer
  • There is no negative marking

Important Notes

  • You should chose that language in Language I which you have studied either as a medium of study or as primary language upto class X.
  • In language I, language II, mathematics, EVS each, 24 questions will be on content and 6 on pedagogy of that language.

Important Notes

  • You should chose that language in Language I which you have studied either as a medium of study or as primary language upto class X.
  • CBSE/ICSE studied candidates can chose language they studied upto class X.
  • Language Teachers must select language of their study in Pandit Training concerned under Language-I of TET Paper II (A).
  • In Paper II-A, language I, language II, all questions will be on content.
  • In Paper II-A, distribution of questions will be as follows
    • (i) Mathematics 30 MCQs (Content 24, Pedagogy 6)
      (ii) Science 30 MCQs (Content 24, Pedagogy 6)
      Content – Physical Science 12 MCQs
      Content – Biological Science 12 MCQs
      Science Pedagogy 6 MCQs
    • Social Studies 60 MCQs (Content 48, Pedagogy 12)
    • Language Teachers 60 MCQs (Content 48, Pedagogy 12)

Incentive marks: Physical Education TET candidates get them under three categories described below.

APTET Syllabus

Now that you know the exam pattern, you should know the syllabus as well. Syllabus of APTET outlines topics from which questions are asked in exam. Before we dive into it, here are some important points to note.

Important points about syllabus of Paper I

  • CDP section will have questions on educational psychology of teaching and learning relevant for primary classes.
  • Language I and II syllabi tests your proficiency, knowledge of language elements, communication, comprehension, all upto class X.
  • Mathematics and EVS syllabi consist of topics from class I to V. However difficulty and linkages of topics could be upto class X.

Important points about syllabus of Paper II-A, II-B

  • CDP section will have questions on educational psychology of teaching and learning relevant for elementary level for II-A, and physical education pedagogy of II-B will also be for elementary level.
  • Language I and II syllabi shall assess your proficiency, knowledge of language elements, communication, comprehension, all upto class XII.
  • Physical Education teachers’ syllabi of language I and II shall assess language skills upto class VII.

Validity of APTET

  • If you qualify APTET, then your certificate will be valid for a period of 7 years from the date of TET.
  • Certificates are issued in digital format.
  • Candidates can appear again and again in the exam in order to improve their scores.

Why is APTET Important?

Did you know that you need to qualify APTET in order to become a teacher? In all schools listed in Clause (n) of Section 2 of the RTE Act, APTET certificate will be required. Clause (n) of Section 2 of the RTE Act mentions following schools:

“school” means any recognised school imparting elementary education and includes –

(i) a school established, owned or controlled by the appropriate Government or a local authority;

(ii) an aided school receiving aid or grants to meet whole or part of its expenses from the appropriate Government or the local authority;

(iii) a school belonging to specified category; and

(iv) an unaided school not receiving any kind of aid or grants to meet its expenses from the appropriate Government or the local authority.

In addition, AP Teacher Recruitment shall give weightage to APTET scores.

  • 20% weightage is given to APTET score
  • 80% weightage is given to AP Teacher Recruitment Test scores.
