History of the Goa Shipyard Limited

After the 1947 the policy creators perceived that it would be in the nation’s eventual benefits to develop indigenous warship working as a vital ability. It was founded in 1957 named “Estaleiros Navais de Goa”. Later it was renamed as Goa Shipyard Limited. GSL is located on the banks of river Zuari in Goa which is a major international tourist destination. Goa Shipyard Ltd. progressively worked over the years to meet the developing shipbuilding needs of the nation’s Naval Defense Sector. 

It has an In – house design capability which carries out its own research and development. Goa Shipyard Limited has designed Training simulators for the Indian Navy and Oil & Gas Corporation. It also constructed Damage Control Simulator for the Indian Navy which is one of the very few damage control simulators worldwide. It also built sea training facility for ONGC for training of their personnel in meeting with real life emergencies that may occur on oil platforms.

Goa Shipyard Recruitment 2021 Common Eligibility Criteria

Age relaxation will be given to ex-servicemen who have worked in the Armed Forces to the scope of their service in the Armed Forces and the resultant age should not exceed three years. Aspirants can check the eligibility criteria for various posts from below:

Eligibility for Deputy General Manager (Liaison – Karwar Office) 

Those Officers who are serving in the Indian Navy/ Coast Guard of the rank of Commander / Captains of Indian Navy or Officers of equivalent rank of Coast Guard are eligible to apply for Goa Shipyard Recruitment 2020. • Essential Educational Qualification: Aspirants must have Bachelor of Engineering (B.E)/ Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degree from a recognized university or AICTE approved Institution with specialization in Mechanical Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Naval Architecture/ Electronics Engineering/ Production Engineering/ Instrumentation Engineering. 
• Desirable Qualification: Aspirants should have a certificate course from recognized university/ Diploma/ any higher degree/ Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Naval Architecture / Project Management or MBA from an AICTE approved institution.
• Essential Work Experience: Aspirants must have a minimum of 13 years Post Qualification Experience in the shipbuilding/ ship repair industry. Candidates from Naval stream should have the work experience in WOT / Design Directorate / Professional Directorate / Trial Agencies / Naval Dockyards and who is on the rank of Commander of Indian Navy (or the equivalent of Coast Guard) with minimum 13 years of service.
• Desirable Experience: Aspirants should have managerial experience in Fabrication / Outfitting / Design / Production / Planning / Cost Estimation / Contract Negotiations/ Project Costing / Project Management, Repair and Maintenance, Commercial Functions / Materials Procurement, Product Development, Analysis, and Evaluation, etc. in Ships and associated peripherals / Engineering systems are eligible to apply for the same. 

Eligibility for Assistant Manager (SR – Commercial)

• Essential Educational Qualification: Candidates must have a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E)/ Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degree in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Electronics/ Naval Architecture from a recognized university or AICTE approved institution.
• Desirable Qualification: Candidates should have a 2-year Post-Graduate Diploma in Management/ Certificate course in materials management/ supply chain management/ logistics management / Operations Management/ Public Procurement/ Stores Management/ International Purchasing & Supply Chain Management/ Certified Professional in Supply Management from a recognized university or AICTE approved institution.
• Essential Work Experience: Candidates must have a minimum of 1-year post qualification experience in a reputed organization. 
• Desirable Experience: Candidates should have managerial work experience in Tendering/ Evaluation/ Contract Management/ Business Development/ B2B Interactions/ Supply Chain Operations

Eligibility for Office Assistant

• Essential Educational Qualification: Candidates should have a degree in any disciple with typing speed of 30 W.P. M (Lower Typing) with 1-year certificate course in Computer Application
• Essential Work Experience: Candidates should have one year on the job training in GSL or should have a minimum of one year of experience in the line.

Eligibility for Office Assistant (Finance)

• Essential Educational Qualification: Candidates should have a degree in commerce with typing speed of 30 W.P. M (Lower Typing) with 1-year certificate course in Computer Application
• Essential Work Experience: Candidates should have one year on the job training in GSL or should have a minimum of one year of experience in the line.

Eligibility for Refrigeration and AC Mechanic

• Essential Educational Qualification:: Candidates should have ITI and NCTVT or ITI degrees in the trade of Refrigeration and AC Mechanic.
• Desirable Qualification: A candidate should have National Certificate of Vocational Training from a recognized institute 
• Essential Work Experience: Candidates should have two years of work experience in the line or two years of training in the respective trade in GSL.
• Desirable Experience: Candidate should have a license entitling him to handle refrigerators / A/Cs and installation, repairs, maintenance and commissioning of various types of refrigerators and A/Cs used in ships and offshores in a reputed shipbuilding industry or equivalent.

Eligibility for Electrical Mechanic

• Essential Educational Qualification: Candidates should have SSC with ITI in Electrical trade. 
• Desirable Qualification: Candidates should be trained in Electrical trades from a recognized institute and should have a National Certificate of Vocational training
• Essential Work Experience: Candidates should have two years of work experience as Electricians in Electrical projects/ Maintenance.
• Desirable Experience:  Candidates should have a license entitled them to handle Electrical Equipment/ Installations. Wireman license issued by Government Licensing Board Govt of Goa.

Eligibility for EOT Crane Operator

Candidates should have an SSC and two years of training in the respective trade or minimum of two years of work experience in the GSL.

Eligibility for Wireman

• Essential Educational Qualification: Candidates should have SSC.
• Desirable Qualification: Candidates should have the knowledge of Voltage/ Current/ Power/ Energy/ Difference between A.C. and D.C supply/ Conductors and insulators/ Testing the supply off & on, A.C. and D.C./ Connection and diagrams for distribution and fuse board and Wiring of fittings and other industrial appliances.
• Essential Work Experience: Candidates should have two years of training in the respective trade or a minimum of two years of work experience in the GSL.

Eligibility for Machinist

Candidates should have ITI and NCTVT OR ITI in Machinist trade and the selected candidates will be enlisted as a Trainee for a period of one year extendable by another one year.

Eligibility for Marine Fitter

Candidates should have ITI and NCTVT or ITI in Fitter/ Fitter General/ Marine Fitter trade and the selected candidates will be enlisted as a Trainee for a period of one year extendable by another one year.

Eligibility for Pipe Fitter

Candidates should have ITI and NCTVT or ITI in Fitter/ Fitter General/ Pipe Fitter trade and the selected candidates will be enlisted as a Trainee for a period of one year extendable by another one year.

Eligibility for Welder

Candidates should have ITI and NCTVT or ITI in Welder trade and the selected candidates will be enlisted as a Trainee for a period of one year extendable by another one year.

For Sl. No 9 to 12: The selected candidates have to undergo training for a period of two years. During the training period they will receive stipend as per the company’s rule.

Goa Shipyard Recruitment 2021 Common Selection Procedure

Candidates will be selected on the basis of written test and practical test. All the information regarding the same will be updated on the official website. The merit list will be released on the basis of the written examination. Candidates will be selected on the basis of merit. Goa Shipyard Limited will release the merit list of the selected candidates on the official website. 

Selected candidates will be invited for the personal interview round. Such candidates will receive a call letter for an interview. Candidates who will be selected after the interview and written test will be entitled to get rail fare. Such candidates will have to submit the hardcopy of the ticket as proof of the journey.
