HPSC Selection Process 2021
The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission specifies details of the selection process through an information brochure of the respective recruitment exams it conducts from time to time. The selection process usually consists of written/computer based tests and interviews of qualifiers.
Test – HPSC conducts selection tests and recruitment exams in one or more stages. For example, for HPSC Civil Service recruitment, the Commission conducts two stages of written exam viz. the Prelims and Mains. For others, the Commission may conduct only one stage of the exam. Details of the exam are usually provided in the information brochure (e.g. type of the exam i.e., qualifying in nature of not). In case of multiple stages of exam, candidates must qualify through the stages to get to the final stage.
Interview – This is the final and ultimate selection stage of most HPSC recruitment events conducted year by year. The Commission issues call letters to candidates who qualify through the written exam for appearing in the interview. The interview also carries some marks and document verification of candidates is also conducted at the final stage.
HPSC Tie Breaking Rule
If candidates score equal marks in HPSC recruitment exams, the Commission may adopt various criteria to resolve the tie between marks and award a unique merit/rank. The Commission documents such details in the information brochure of particular recruitment exams of the HPSC. In case, all tie-breaking formula fails to resolve a query, the HPSC consider the age of the candidates and one who is senior in age is offered the higher rank.
