Why previous year papers matter for RRB Group D

The Group D syllabus is broad but shallow — General Science is capped at Class 10 level, and Mathematics stays within arithmetic and elementary algebra. Past papers reveal which topics actually recur: percentages, time and work, series completion, coding-decoding and basic physics questions dominate, while some listed topics barely appear.

How to use these papers

1. Attempt one full paper in a single 90-minute sitting, without pausing, to build exam-day stamina.
2. Score it with 1/3 negative marking applied — this is the number that matters, and it changes how aggressively you should guess.
3. Note which section cost you the most marks and revise that first.
4. Repeat with a second paper a few days later to check whether accuracy improved.

Shift-wise papers

The 2018 recruitment was conducted across many days and shifts. Because the question paper differed per shift, marks were normalised across sessions. Working through several shifts gives you a much better sense of the true difficulty band than any single paper.
