RBI Grade B 2019 Syllabus, Best Books, Exam Pattern

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released the syllabus for the RBI Grade B (DR)- General, DSIM, and DEPR separately. Candidates seeking to take one of the above-mentioned examinations can check the syllabus from below. Along with the syllabus, the official body has also recommended some books for the preparation purpose. Candidates must stick to the prescribed syllabus and books for their preparation and qualifying the exam. As per the official notification the exam pattern for every exam is different and carries different weightage. Candidates must check from below the following syllabus, books and exam pattern to be followed in the examination.

RBI has released the official notification conatining the important recommneded books and paper wise syllabus to be followed by the candidate for strategically preparing for the exam. Candidates can check the detailed syllabus of each subject from below.

Syllabus for RBI Grade B (DR) -General Phase 2

The paper wise syllabus for the examination is posted below, candidates can refer to this while preparing for the same.

Paper-II -English (Writing Skills):
The paper on English shall be framed in a manner to assess the writing skills including expression and understanding of the topic.

Syllabus for RBI Grade B (DR) – DEPR

  1. Standard syllabus for economics would be that of a master’s degree in economics of any central university in India.
  2. Syllabus for English contains the following:
    1. Precis writing
    2. Comprehension and Business/Office Correspondence

Recommended reading for RBI Grade B(DR) – DEPR

RBI publications viz., Annual Report, Report on Trend and Progress of Banking in India, Monetary Policy Report and the Financial Stability Report and the Economic Survey published by the Government of India over the previous two years.

Syllabus for RBI Grade B (DR) – DSIM

Standard of paper is that of the Master’s degree examination of any central university in India.

Paper 1: Questions would cover Probability: Definition of Probability, Standard distribution,Large and small sample theory, Analysis of Variance, Estimation, Testing of Hypotheses, Multivariate analysis and Stochastic Processes.

Paper 2: Questions would cover (i) Probability and Sampling, (ii) Linear Models and Economic Statistics, (iii) Statistical Inference: Estimation, Testing of hypothesis and Non-parametric Test, (iv) Stochastic Processes, (v) Multivariate analysis and (vi) Numerical Analysis and Basic Computer Techniques.

Paper 3: English: Essay, Précis writing, Comprehension and Business/Office
Correspondence.

RBI Grade B 2019 Exam Pattern

Down below candidates can find the separate exam patterns for RBI Grade B (DR)- General, Department of Economic and Policy Research (DEPR) and Department of Statistics and Information Management (DSIM).

Exam pattern for RBI Grade B (DR)- General phase 1

Mode: The paper is conducted in an online mode.
Total Marks: Phase 1 paper is of 200 marks
Duration: Total duration of the paper is 120 minutes.
No. of sections: There is a total of 4 sections in the paper these are:

  1. General Awareness
  2. English language
  3. Quantitative Aptitude
  4. Reasoning

 Phase 2 Examination:

Mode: paper is conducted in an online mode:
Duration: Total duration of the exam is 270 minutes each paper of 90 minutes.
Total marks: Exam is of 300 marks.
Type of questions:  Consist of both objective and descriptive types of questions
