7. Paper 7 & 8 (Optional Paper)
- Paper 7 & 8 will be optional paper. Candidates have to choose a subject for optional paper from a list of 37 subjects mentioned in the official notification.
WBCS 2022 Exam Pattern

Exam Pattern for Prelims
The prelims of WBCS exam will be in computer-based online mode. The exam will be conducted in Hindi and Bengali language only. There will be only 1 paper of 2 ½ hours duration. All the questions will be of objective type and the level of question will be graduation level. The marking scheme of the exam is given below:

Exam Pattern for Mains
The main exams of WBCS will be offline, in pen & paper mode. There will be a total of 8 paper. Out of the 8 papers, 6 papers will be compulsory and 2 papers will be from the optional subject chosen by the candidate. Out of the 6 compulsory papers, paper I and paper II will be conventional essay type paper and the remaining 4 compulsory papers &two optional papers will be of objective type. The level of question will be of graduation. The duration of each paper is 3 hours. The marking scheme of objective type paper is given below:

About WBCS Exam
The West Bengal Civil Service Exam is a state-level exam conducted by the West Bengal Public Service Commission (WBPSC) every year. It is a three-level exam.
