WBCS Exam Pattern 2022
The WBCS Exam Pattern is divided into three stages, each of which candidates must pass in order to be considered for deputation against the posted vacancies. Preliminary Exam, Main Exam, and Personality Test are the three steps of the selection process. Candidates must score at or above the cut-off marks in order to advance to the next round of the selection process.
Prelims Exam Pattern
- There will be only one paper in the Preliminary Exam, which will be a paper on General Studies.
- The paper will be objective in nature and will have 200 multiple-choice questions.
- The paper will be worth 200 marks
- The exam is organized for 02 hurs 30 minutes
- The paper’s standard will be at the level of knowledge required of a graduate of any recognised university’s faculty. Questions from the following fields of knowledge will be included in the paper.
Mains Exam Pattern
- The Main Exam will consist of six mandatory papers and one optional subject chosen from the list of optional subjects below by the students. There will be two optional subject papers, each worth 200 marks. Each paper, whether compulsory or optional, will be worth 200 marks and will last three hours.
- Four of the six mandatory papers, namely I General Studies- I, (ii) General Studies- II, (iii) The Constitution of India and Indian Economy, including the role and functions of the Reserve Bank of India, and (iv) Arithmetic and Test of Reasoning, will be of the MCQ type and will be answered in OMR answer sheets. The next two required papers, Paper I and Paper II, will be written in a traditional format.
