Age Limit
The minimum age requirement for the candidates to apply is 18 years and maximum age limit is as follows:-
- Unreserved/ General- 25 years
- Extreme Backward class (Schedule-1) and Backward Class (Schedule-2)- male- 27 years
- Local female residents of Jharkhand- {Extreme Backward Class (Unreserved, (Schedule-1) and Backward class (Schedule-2) }- 28 years
- Schedule Tribe/ Scheduled Caste ( Male and female)- 30 years
Pay Band– Rs. 5200/- Rs. 20,200 with Grade pay of- Rs. 2000/-
Selection Process: Candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance in Written Examination followed by Physical and Medical Examination.

Note-Candidates must ensure that they fulfil these conditions and carefully note down the criteria. The applicants suffering from Bended knee, Flat feet, Eye defect, Varicocele, Stuttering, Piles, any infectious disease, mental disease, are not eligible for the post.
Physical Standard Test Eligibility
Candidates might have to appear for a Physical Test that will include running. The requirement is as follows:-
- For male candidates– 10 km in 60 minutes.
- For female candidates- 05 km in 40 minutes.
Note– There will be no marks assigned for this test. This will be a qualifying test but it is mandatory to pass it. Unsuccessful candidates will not be considered for recruitment.
Exam Pattern for India Reserve Battalion General Constable Competitive Examination 2017
The paper held in Offline mode i.e Pen and Paper based. There were 2 papers of 120 questions each. The written paper had multiple choice questions based on General Awareness of the candidate, Mathematics, Passages, General Science etc. There will be 3 marks for every correct response. For every incorrect response, there will be a penalty of 1 mark. Let us see the pattern in a more simpler form:-
Paper- I General Awareness
In Paper-I there was 40 questions based on General Ability, 50 questions related to Jharkhand State, 20 questions from General Science and finally 10 questions from Basic Mathematics. In total there will be 120 question of worth 360 marks.

Paper-II Language
There were two sections in Paper-II. Part-1 had 40 questions based on Hindi Comprehension and Hindi Grammar. In this part, is also included 20 questions based on English General awareness and Grammar.
In Part-2, candidates will first of all select one language out of- English, Urdu, Bangla, Mundari, Ho, Khariya, Kurmali, Khortha, Nagpuri, Panch Pargania, Oriya, Sanskrit etc. The language selection can depend on the preference of the candidates. The test will be in the language that the candidate selects. In this part, 60 questions will be based on the history of that language and 20 questions on general knowledge and grammar. Application Forms
The applications are to be submitted in Online Mode at jssc.nic.in and jssc.in. Here the candidates had seen the link for “Online Application for IRBGCCE-2017”. There should not be any mistake on the submitted form. Make sure that Personal Details, Educational Details, Communication Details. Digital Image Uploading is as mentioned. You are required to preview the application form before submitting it finally. Take special note of spellings in the form wherever required. You can take help of the metric certificate or mark sheet obtained from the board. The first step was to get registered. You must have got the essential credentials after registration. You must have proceed to click the “Save and Next” button at every stage or else the data will be lost. Candidates can apply through the “Application form” link given in the quick links above.
Application Fee
Amount to be paid by the candidates as part of the application process is Rs. 300/-. However, candidates from Jharkhand state who belong to Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe will require submitting Rs. 75/-. The examination fee is non-refundable.
Fee Payment Method
Candidates can pay the fee using Net banking, Debit/ Credit Card. There will be extra bank charges depending on the mode that the candidate chooses to pay the amount.

- extra charge applicable to using any other bank’s Net Banking other than SBI to pay the amount- Rs. 17.10/-
- extra charge applicable to using any other banks debit card to pay the amount- Rs. 12.54/-
- extra charge applicable to using challan of SBI’s any branch to pay the amount- Rs. 57.00/-
Admit Card:
The admit cards for the (IRBGCCE-2017) had been uploaded on the official website. Candidates had to download the hall ticket themselves. It will NOT be sent through registered post or any other medium. If the photograph is not visible on the admit card, then the candidate can carry the identical picture to the centre and appear for the exam.
Other than this, the candidate also needs to carry a valid photo id for verification purpose. The Photo id proof can be your voter id or Aadhar card. You have to keep the id proof with you at all times during the exam.
IRB GCCE Answer Key 2017
IRB has released the answer key for General Constable Competitive Examination 2017 held on December 03, 10 And 17, 2017. The Answer key is released after the successful conduction of the exams. Tie-breaker
In case of two or more candidates receiving equal marks, the tie will be resolve using age factor. Candidates older in age will be placed higher. If the age factor cannot resolve the tie, then their Height will be considered next. Candidates taller will be placed higher.
Separation Process
Candidates looking for selection will undergo a 3 tiered process:-
- OMR based Written Examination
- Physical Standard Test
- Medical Examination
Based on minimum marks obtained in OMR written test examination, a merit list will be prepared accordingly. The Minimum marks required for each category is as follows:-
- Unreserved/General Category – 40%
- SC/ ST – 32%
- EBC- (Schedule-1) – 34%
- BC (Schedule- 2) – 36.5 %
- Local residents of Jharkhand state – 32%
